This blew my mind.

I think I saw this demonstrated on an episode of DIY Network's "Cool Tools" last year. I hope this helps prevent a lot of people from being maimed. Kudos to the inventor.

I'm a Journeyman Cabinetmaker. I've seen that device years ago. As effective as it is , there's some people that feel it gives a false sense of security. It works on micro-electric current from organic objects which shut down the motor ( utilizing an electric brake) when the blade is touched.
I've seen a lot of guys get chewed up over the last 25 years , so any safety device that prevents injury is a good thing.

I tend to agree.

No doubt a wonderful and very welcome invention. Yet, as someone with a bit of interest where design, security and safety intersect, as hi-tech and cool as any new invention or technology would be, it is still a "passive safety measure."

There is a danger here of "putting the cart before the horse" so to speak. One must actively engage a sense of urgency/safety and prudence and not solely reliant on technology.
