This collecting 112s....is confusing

I'm just speculating here, but it could have been very possible that the three line tang stamp blades debuted just as Buck was transitioning from the brass spring holder to the stainless spring holder. I'm guessing these two changes were being made at the same time. They probably used up the two line tang stamp blades before the brass spring holders, and continued using the rest of the brass spring holders on the new three line blades until they were gone. If this is true, a three line 112 with a brass spring holder would be a rare and unique bird. Please keep in mind this is just speculation on my part.

...With the way "frugality" seems to have been and continues to be an attribute of the company, I think many, many variations within a category and version could be expected...I totally agree with your "speculation" Buck_110...

Thanks guys, usually when I pass up buying a knife because I think it's altered, it ends up being a rare one I should have bought:( ,but better safe than sorry.

It is not plated. It is stainless that is polished to a mirror finish. It is as bright and shiny as nickel, without that yellowish tint that nickel plated guns have. It looks crisper. And...it's stainless!

Not only that, as a cop, nickel plate would never fly due to the possibility of flaking of the plated nickel. Stainless, however, was always way cool.

...I'm like you Scott...I just can't afford to throw money away. Also "collectables" are different things to different people...A friend gives me a knife that comes from his heart and our friendship and that makes it a "collectable" to me...A friend gives me an idea on some "tinkering" on a knife and that makes it a "collectable" to me. If I run across and acquire a true and relatively rare knife it's a "collectable" to me...but not one that I couldn't part with. Those from friends and family are my true "collectables" ...I'll never be "burned" by owning them...

I couldn't agree with you more Mike...stainless IS way cool. I personally think the Colt Python in BTST is the prettiest revolver ever made. Not to mention, the Python is THE revolver of revolvers. You gotta love that vent rib barrel! Just a gorgeous gun all the way around.

now now,,,
i had a rugger b-halk 44m wit a 12" vent rib stainless and was hitting note book paper at 100 yd wit iron sights
that hand cannon was Nice but a bit stiff on my damaged wrist after a full cylender...
but that is MY vote on the R of R ....
truly one of thoes make my day guns.:D ;)
