you can't go by a childs age you have to go by the childs maturity level. my six year old has had real knives for two years now. My four year old is mean and has anger management problem( i may be exzagerating a bit) he may not get his first real knife til he is 40......I don't know yet but i will know when the time is right.....but it ain't right now.....Drew
 
Yeah I'm holding off on my 5 year old daughters 1st real knife but it will probably be a pink Izula.

ha so until he's 40 he can only eat things that need to be cut w/ a plastic knife. sure hope he likes lettuce! lol
