This is a cheese thread

One of the best tasting cheddars that I have tried is also one of the best deals. Last year I discovered Cabot Extra Sharp Cheddar from Vermont. I get it for less than the mediocre store brand from my usual grocery store. In two-pound blocks it is rather inexpensive at Walmart. It is the only product that I routinely buy at Walmart, but it is worth a late night detour (when the lines are short).

I raise goats.

Here are some cheeses I made:

Very Cool. I'll be right over :D

My vote is for Tilsit, extremely aged cheddar, smoked gouda and I always love a good blue cheese.

Havarti ( on roast beef and tukey with a little mustard)

Camunbert is really popular here and lots of little dairies make thier own.

Nice whole-milk mozzarella on one of my home-made pizzas.

The basic farmers cheese I make when milk is on sale.

Great thread! There are a lot of suggestions here that I'll have to try...

I like any kind of Gouda. The aged Gouda with a black rind is especially good. One of my favorite cheeses is Parrano. It's technically a Gouda cheese, but it has a strong parmesan bite to it.

For grilled cheese sandwiches, I just use a slice each of Kraft Deli Deluxe sharp cheddar and American cheese.

A simple, cheap, farmers' cheese can also be really good on crackers. I've heard it's easy to make... I'll have to learn how! :)

Along the more frugal lines of cheeses I like colby on saltine crackers with a little sliced onion on top.

Muenster cheese melts well for grilled cheese.

I just bought some cheese at the costco and I forgot the name but it is round and soaked in red wine. The "rind" is red and has the subtle taste of red wine the inner portion is a white semi-soft cheese similar to a fontana/mozzerall everything is edible...nothing spectacular but it's okay.

fresh made bocconcini from the italian deli, sliced and served with strong olives, and biscuits

well aged cheddar, cubed into salads, or in grilled cheese with onion slices (mmm)

cant do blue cheese or some scottish cheeses, i'm allergic to pennicillin

gouda, jack, brie, feta, goat, pretty much any cheese i'll eat.

I sometimes buy thsoe little round cheese and soak them in red wine for a week, wvery tasty.

Yikes! Velveeta shouldn't even be mentioned in a cheese thread. It is a yellowish plastic cheese-like food substitute. We moved an old refrigerator out when I was a kid and found an old slice of Velveeta behind/under it. No telling how long it had been back there but it was shrunk a little and hardened. Not a hint of mold anywhere. Buzz Aldrin could have took that stuff to the moon and planted the flagpole in it.

Saying Velveeta is not cheese is like saying Spam is not meat!:D:D:D:D

Spam and Velveeta on Wonder white bread with yellow mustard. Mmm, Mmm good.:)

Dude jacknife I love it!! I know people will cringe at the thought but the spam, mustard, velveeta and white wonder bread is good. I ate plenty of those for lunch as a kiddo! I like to smash the bread down on the meat and cheese before eating! Potted meat in the can, vienna sausages, sardines, smoked oysters, kiper snacks it's ALL GOOD! I believe you gotta try the lower ends before you can appreciate the higher end things in life. Coincidentally, I always have appreciation for the foods/drink I try!
