This is a hand made walking staff I carved....(pic link)

Hi Chris!

Surprisingly the stick is quite light. Since it is so strong I was able to make it a bit thinner than the birchwood sticks I made.

Richard,

I am going to add a compass on a friend's birch staff, when I do, I will snap a picture of it. I like birch...though classified as a soft wood it is actually very strong and light but not as strong as mahogany.

Thanks to all who commented and looked at the staff, I appreciate it.

Clay should get the stick by Saturday.

Yea!

That baton looked nice too. Of course, you should properly test it against one of the ursines indigenous to your island before you give it to anyone...

I think Chris has a point: it is always a mixed bag providing weapons to your spouse...

Will post soon when I get me grubby mitts on my my staff...

Nice. I like and use walking sticks most of the time, partly because of some arthritis, and partly so I can be armed without appearing to be. You going into business anytime soon?

Hi Real,

I agree with you that a walking staff sure does make a great self defense tool if the need be and it doesn't raise an eyebrow if you don't need it.

As far as going into business, I am not sure at this time. I have been really busy at work and enjoying the summer. Maybe in the falll I may take a few orders if someone wants a staff.

A nice place that has staffs for a great price is The House of Canes. They make walking staffs too. Check them out. You can customize your staff, also.

Thanks for posting,
