This is all Weaponeer's (Bruce's) fault....

I've known Weaponeer/Bruce since 1998 when I was first assigned to Ft. Hood. I retired from the Army in 2005 and moved back to the area, and have found Bruce to be a bad influence on me. Or maybe it's the other way around...I'm not entirely sure. I really can't remember if it was his idea or mine to take some spare parts I had in the garage and build an AR15 out of it.

One thing led to another, and I wound up getting my FFL so I could order the lower receiver myself. After each of us built a few AR's, I'm almost sure it was Bruce that decided to try out the 300 AAC Blackout.

Again, one thing led to another and I found myself with a couple of 300BLK rifles that needed to be taken hog hunting, since many here in Texas consider it the ideal round for feral pigs. Conveniently enough, one of the pastors from church had just bought a pistol from me to carry as backup when he was holding the light for another hog hunter from church. I managed to get an invitation and have gone a couple times. While my Buck 110 Guide served reasonably well for field butchering, I wanted something else. My Google skills showed a lot of choices, like the Mora and others, but one talking about the BK2 Campanion made me recall that Bruce (a connoisseur in all things in which he partakes) had mentioned something about Becker knives.

Yet again, one thing led to another, and here I was with a big box from one of my distributors and small boxes from Tomar's, The Knife Connection, and Knifeworks. I've started dabbling in lanyard making and micarta dying, and look forward to giving a couple of these knives a good test. I'm thinking I may turn my almost 19-year old son loose on the woodpile with the BK2 to see what he can do.

I'm looking forward to see where this leads....even if it is all Bruce's fault!

Nice accumulation! Man everything is bigger in Texas. So where did you get those scales that are on the 9??? I wants a pair!!!

Thanks to all for the encouragement...not that I need it!

The scales are from The-Knife-Connection (TKC). They are the G10 MIL Spec Camo pattern. The colors show up better in this photo.

Dang that is a nice looking full box of Beckers. I couldn't decide what to use for what and when. Which one were you drawn to first?? Can't wait to see what you do with them.

thank you for displaying them in (mostly) numerical order.
I guess you ran out of room to fit the 11, 13, 14, and 24...

Boing!!!

Gee, I don't think I've ever had my name mentioned in a post title before. I'm honored!

My wife always thinks that I tend to go to excess when I "get into" a new thing. Now I can use Greg as an example of how I am not the only one and not strange at all. Of course she has noticed that almost every Thursday, after the weekly lunch with GSO and the guys, I come home with some new gun part.

And I gotta tell ya, that old "one thing leads to another" can get pretty expensive pretty quick.! :)

Whoa!
Didn't think you could even buy all at once..
Always thought you just had to buy one, get hooked,
then start oggling all the others and...
BAM! You're being reeled in ordering a lot of packages
and whatnots from tomars..

You ain't a woofin'.... I can hang on to that last package that came in Saturday for a few weeks (or months) so it's not as obvious to your wife. Hehe

To all you Beckerheads - Thanks for the encouragement! I was really hoping we'd get a pig Thursday night so I could try out the BK2, but it was not to be. Hopefully soon!

In the meantime, I have at least have one Becker-in-action photo.

I helped my son build his own AR lower for high school graduation last June. We finally got the upper on it a couple months ago and took it to the range today. I had him do the bulk of the work with just a little help from me. Always better to let someone learn to do this stuff for themselves. It shot really well, and it's zeroed with some Hog Hammer ammo if we have the chance to go while he's on Christmas break.

And I had given him a Necker as an early Christmas present. Brown (Rit) dyed micarta scales and the TDI belt clip, so he's very happy. He asked if he could throw it at a target...I hesitated for a moment, then told him go to town since they are guaranteed for life. The knife would be happier that way since they work for a living.

For some reason, someone put a new target backer (1/2" particle board) over the top of the existing 1/4" particle board backer. That was why there seemed to be some bounce back in the bullet holes. If I remember, these were 125 grain Nosler ballistic tips in 300 AAC Blackout that my son had shot.
