I was just browsing the makers forum and came across this design from Bill Siegle ( I hope he won't mind me showing it ), I have always liked Bill's work and I think this blade could finally be one of the often tried mult-functional knives that actually works. It looks far more practical than the Tracker for example !!! It's called a Knax.
What do you all think ?

That is a cool looking knife. Do you know any specs?

It's on the makers for sale section, this is taken from his post......

Well a few of you may remember me offering a half knife/half axe a few years back. Well I came up with an updated Knax model that I believe will please anyone in camp. It is 15 5/16 overall with an 8 3/8 long flat ground blade. The blade is 3 5/8 wide. I used .262 thick 5160 steel and black canvas micarta on this biggun

I'm really liking this one! It has a no nonsense look about it. It doesn't have a preposterous design quality that makes you laugh...it makes you want to pick it up and try it out on a serious task! - Matt-

UMMmmm...naaahhh..not for me.

A low cost version that really works well. In fact it does everything well except filleting fish:D

UDT,

How much of beating have you put on that cleaver? I've asked about the Condor machetes a couple of times and never really got a response...

So far not to much. I just got is about 10 months ago and it,s been winter most of that time in ND. I have used it for chopping a lot of small branches off my walking stick blanks. ( I make walking sticks for a hobby ) I can tell you that it's a solid efficient chopper from what I have used it. Veggies don't stand a chance.:D

Bill makes great stuff! Always clean and very solid. I really need to replace the Siegles I sold off when I got poor. :( I can't say that this one is a likely candidiate, though. I have no doubt it would perform exceptionally well, but - purely as a matter of personal eye-appeal - this is kinda funny-lookin' to me. :p No worries, he makes plenty of other patterns that make me lust in my heart. :D

I got a chance to see this knife at the Eugene Knife show this past weekend. It is one crazy huge knife. Pictures don't do it justice it has to be seen in person. A couple of the guys I was with picked it up and commented on the heft. I believe the flat spot on the spine is for batoning. Or at least that was the consensus.
