1/8" thick with a thin grind?

A little modernistic looking for a nessmuk but at 1/8" that is keeping in the tradition of a nessmuk IMO.

Based on the feedback from the previous thread, I put this proto together . . . It is .125" thick with an incredibly thin edge and full height grind. . .

Blade Length: 3 3/4"
Overall Length: 8 1/8"
Blade Width: 1 5/16"
Blade Thickness: 1/8" . . . (.125")

I saw that, and I like it better than the full sized version. Not sure what the price will be on these, or how hard they will be to get, but I'd like to try one out.

I love that little Game Warden but it is TOO THICK.

This would be just right!

Although the look is more modernistic I actually like the overall shape a bit better than the other commercial variety that Bark River made cause the blade is a bit thicker.

Buck made a real nice one Ltd Edition, probably my favorite commercial version but the steel wasn't as good as the BRKT or what Busse would probably use.

this one looks alot more nessmuck than the other one that they put up before.

looks like a nice knife. i wonder how that infi steel would perform for fine shaving and skinning tasks...based on what i have read it would probably do great..

The one I have with that sort of steel seemed slow to sharpen but impossible nearly to dull once sharp.

Now that I would like to try out. INFI from what everyone says is one of the best. At 1/8 " I'd buy one. Will wait to see prices and availability. I would definitely be interested though.

They should leave the spine rough for a firesteel. My GW is rounded and you can't strike a firesteel with the spine.:thumbdn:

When I think of an edge that's "incredibly thin", I'm thinking less than .005" above the edge grind. How does their version of "incredibly thin" compare? Anyone know edge geometry specs?

Very Cool, I like the Idea of this Knife, hollowdweller.:thumbup:

Which one did you get? They came in a variety of thicknesses.

Just saying "Game Warden" and "too thick" paints them all as the same. If you look at the releases, you'll see that the GW started out as a .14" slicer. The thicker versions were responses to Busse fans who like thick blades.

I have quite a few of the .14 and .17 GWs. Only one each of the .220 and .270 knives. I just wanted to try the thicker versions.

I really don't see the huge difference that would make one a Nessmuk inspired design and one NOT a Nessmuk inspired design. There is a lot of variation in Nessmuk size among custom makers. That said, I do like the proportions of the smaller knife better.

Wow, I like this one more then the other version. If you changed the handle to some natural color I might have to save up(I know its gonna be a lot).

The game warden looks like a great little knife then I realized its .270" thick.
*edit - didnt know it came in different thicknesses, learned from previoius post.

Thanks, I didnt know that, Im gonna have to keep my eyes open for one of the thinner ones. I like that design.

Mine is one of the .22 versions. .14 would be much more useful but 1/8" even better.

The problem with the Busse is of course availability. If I had waited for a .14 Game Warden I'd still be waiting because I have seen none for sale. Looks according to your list none have been produced in any quantity for more than a year.

Maybe he was referring to the thickness of the larger one. Isn't it like way thick?

This is true. If you want to get the variation of your choice, you do have to keep your hand on the pulse of releases. A lot of folks don't want to expend the energy to keep up with various releases, and I totally understand this idea.

My point though is that you'd best get a thin "Mini Muk" when you see it if that's the one you want.

However, I think (no word from Busse yet) that these may be a regular Busse Combat offering, so there shouldn't be as much urgency in ordering. If they are offered by Busse, they'll likely be offered for a couple/three months, and once they're taken down, that's pretty much it unless you gamble that the Company Store will get some.

That's a good question. I never saw the specs on that one. I asked in that thread but never got an answer.
