I worked all day with this pretty girl from my church . she wanted to make a knife for her up and coming husband as a gift. She did all the work from layout, grinding, and ht.
its in the oven for its last hour and she will be back on Thursday to sand and do the handles. Thursday she will be making a sheath with my wife.
wow this kid really worked hard.
This guy is going to get a great wife in this girl

Very cool! Nice to see more women exposed to knifemaking.

In the 3rd pic, you can see all the sparks flying right out at her face and hair. I came up with a little deflector that I put on my grinder to eliminate that problem and it actually works pretty well. You may want to consider making one too.

One thing is for certain, she'll make a fine wife. Nothing is better than a good woman to keep you on track, fat, dumb and very happy.

She's got a big smile that probably is infectious. Her husband picked the right one!

Thanks for helping a newbie, v-6. Please remind her to keep her eyes on her work! That 2nd pic scares me a little ;)

Vern,

Are you going post photos of the knife when done?

I bet it turns out good for a first....;)

That's cooler than a polar bear's backside. :) You're a good egg for passing on skills to a new generation.

That's very cool, Vern, and that big, pretty smile of hers says it all. Well done, both teacher and student!

Very well done.....

Congratulations to both of you - teacher and student.

That is a great looking knife for a first, bravo.... :)

Her new husband is a VERY LUCKY guy.

Thank you for doing this.
