This is not a hog; THIS IS THE! HOG!!!

As some said , it's JURASSIC PORK !! Start building the mother of all grills !

glad we didn't run into something like that on our knife-n-dogs hog hunt!

8 shots with a .500 S&W....and one point-blank to finish it off....no kiddin!

Why all the sudden spreading of this around the net? I have seen other threads here and elsewhere about this pic/story.

The pics are BS, posed and/or photoshopped.

If you look it up on Snopes, there is a pic of a real wild pig killed by a man in florida that weighed in at least 50 lbs more than the claimed weight of this pig, and the proportions look much different than this one. They mention this story but do not go into detail. The photos are engineered to make the pig look bigger, like holding a fish at an arm's length to give the impression of great size. note the difference between the faked pics and the ones in the snopes link.

If it was shot 8 times, the kid is a crummy shot and should have used a rifle.

Rat,
Unless Breitbart has somesort of repertoir for fakery, I have a feeling that the story and associated pictures are genuine. It's an Associated Press (AP) report, put together by two AP writers, who have a whole lot to loose and who work for an organization that has a very good reputation and even more to loose.

I'm with you, Rat. We went over these photos weeks ago, and some of our best photochoppers recognized them as altered/deceptive. I saw the story on the news as well, and I'm guessing it will come out as a hoax in the near future. The only photo they had was the same one that was posted here. And that kid was on camera talking it up. lil' bastard oughta get grounded!

Chuck Norris used to take them down on his early morning walks before breakfast with his pocket knife and bare hands.

be sure to read the negative comments on that site...wow, theres some anger in there!

While the pic accompanying the story is way out of proportion, if you go to http://www.monsterpig.com you'll see some more realistic pics.

More posed/fakery pics that you can only view at a very small size.

even if the pig was 1050lbs, which is extremely doubtful, the fact remains that the pics are staged to make the pig look bigger than it is, the pig is no record kill, and the kid is a terrible shot.

The AP are gullible fools.

They might have something to lose, not loose. :D

the family of that kid is working to keep their hoax going, but their pics are clearly hoax pics with no scale of reference. If you want to compare the size of an animal to a human, you stand next to the animal, not way behind it.

Like this:

bighog1.jpg

Nothing to hide, and a pig that is larger than the claimed weight of the hoax animal.

Oh, and killed by one shot from a .44 magnum.

The only technique I saw in the photos was "forced perspective" placing the human behind the animal. It is a very common technique in the field of dead animal/fish photography. If done well it enhances the photo without being too obvious. It isn't the same as enlarging an object digitally.

The kid killed a huge pig with a handgun. Mac

Well, turns out not to be a hoax after all......well sorta.

Turns out the "Monsterpig" was a domesticated pet. Sold to the ranch and passed off to unsuspecting hunters as ferrel.

I think its a shame that the kid and father are the ones who will have the egg on their faces over all this, when the guys who ran the hunting preserve were the ones acting shady.

It does definitley appear that they used the old fishermans technique of placing the animal well in the foreground and standing in the background to make the pig look bigger, In a few of the pictures on the web site the animal looks more realistic.

I dont know if this pig is a record or not but it is gonna be alot of sausage.

If he shot it 8 times with a 50 cal revolver, that means the thing let him reload. Hmmm  Anyway it sounds like alot of ammo.

Its a cool Adventure for a kid that age and one he can talk about for years. I say good for him

Whether it is a fake or not, the picture has become famous internationally.
I first saw it about a week ago taped to the cash register of a gun shop in Perth, Western Australia.
That's a looo-ong way from Alabama.

Chuck Norris used to take them down on his early morning walks before breakfast with his pocket knife and bare hands.

Chuck Norris would'nt need a pocket knife for that hog. He's spin kick it on the side of the head and then have a pork chop for breakfast.

It was a fenced Kill. This kid did not hunt this pig he Killed it. Teaching our youth that it is ok to Kill animals in a fenced area is just wrong. This violates all fear chase rules for hunting, this kid and father are what I call slob hunters nothing more. Shooting this pig as many times as he did also proves he is not prepared or ready to be in the field to hunt. You owe it to the animal that you are hunting to be able to deliver a clean and humane kill.
This whole thing does nothing more than give us hunters a bad name and more ammunition for the anti's.
