This is Why We Carry Knives

A while back someone posted a newspaper story of a mother who was driving an SUV with her kids in carseats, and one of them got themselves wrapped up and the straps were straggling the kid. She had no knife and pulled over and had to flag down 2 cars as the first one didn't have a knife. Finally she was able to get her kid free.

I am not 100% certain this story is true but it does illustrate the exact sentiment the OP posted.

My wife is a total non-knife person but over the years she sees the value. She carries a SAK and sometimes a delica. Knife carry is still a necessity.

i lived there for about 15 years but just recently moved down to phoenix. nice to see fellow arizonans on the forums!:D

I'm just up here for school at NAU. I normally go down to Glendale for the summers and such. Although I love it up here, there's something about the desert that I just love.

And the more I think about it the more I realize that dog had a blast and whether or not she cut herself afterwards it was worth it to her:

And as I said, it's interesting to see all the people here spend so much time and money dedicated to knives, when I know most, if not all of you, would do anything to that knife if it means keeping a loved one out of danger. Whether it's cutting a seatbelt, or snapping the thing in half pring a car door open (not sure if this can even be done... but the point's there). Like I said, it's not like I really needed the knife in this particular incident when I look back on it, but I still had the mini-epiphany when I pulled it out.
