Not sure all the info got through so I will give it a other go.When I brought the knife the Lester handle was well dried out and had shrunk quite a lot so these photos ime sending are after treating it with some neatsfoot oil. Like I was saying the blade is just over 5"long ,no markings on the blade and no markings on the screw on pomel..been doing some research and know it's a pilots servival knife ,what I don't know is Wetheringsett is an early American knife or if it's been made in japan or China which would then make it more like late 70,s I think.ime hoping some friend over there in america could help.ive only been collecting knives for about six months but it really gives me a buzz.I am collecting anything from beyonets to pen knives (folders). In tend to use this site quite a lot and make more knive collecting friends.thanks.

Im not too sure what I am looking at here, it looks to me to be a Pommel of a fixed blade like an Ontario 499 survival knife or one of the million cheaper versions of that.
What about a description, stampings on the knife - or even a photo of the knife perhaps? This is Traditionals so you may be moved to a more suited place for help.

Looks like the screw-on pommel of a Japanese version of the pilot survival knife. More pictures would be helpful though.

Indeed, Japanese or Taiwanese. These foreign copies are screwed on or sometimes just glued in, so becareful around water, the glued in ones sometimes fall apart if exposed.

It doesn't look like its american made jet pilot's survival knife.
No markings like camillus, ontario anywhere i presume?
Which would make it a far east oriental homage replica.

Thanks very much for the info.so is it worth keeping in my collection and what age do you think it might be.

It's a copy of the Camillus Pilot Survival Knife.

Ontario made one such copy. So did some Japanese outfits.
Based on the shape of the edges of the fuller, I think it is not made by Camillus or Ontario.

Are there any markings on the Tang?
