This knife is "small" enough for me.

I just get so frustrated with small knives. As in, what was I thinking and how fast can I get home to swap back to a proper knife.

99% of the time, Opinel #9 in RFP and Micra in LFP.

Today, the Opinel is replaced by a Buck 500. Not this one but one sort of like it.

Can we be like the Beckerheads and get cool numbers?

APA member #3?

We could...but...that would mean we'd need some sort of organization and start documenting the whole thing. That's more work than I had anticipated. You volunteering for the job?

Heck no. 'Dis organization needs no organization.

I'm claiming APA #9, 'cause that's my knife. Rest of all y'all can figure out your own numbers. Just like Little League number assignment.

I hear you about a 3.750 inch knife being about perfect for an EDC. I currently edc a Tidioute 73 with ebony covers. Great pattern for the pocket and for using.

BTW: that is a beautiful one you have there.

I agree. I generally don't carry <3 1/2" folders.

When I'm just lounging around the house I carry a smaller knife, but when going out I always carry one that is at least 3½". 3¾" to 4¼" is my sweet spot for a real working carry, and they do just fine in the front pocket. Sheaths are for fixed blades.

I could never go the route of the peanut or small keychain SAK. They're simply too small to me. Not of blade, but of handle. There's absolutely no occasion (other than walking around and just having it in the pocket of course) where those tiny handles are preferable. Not that I have large hands either, I'm on the slimmer side of medium, but a nice full handle just makes it more capable.

Sometimes I like a blade-to-handle as close to 1:1 as possible, but having a low blade to angle ratio is great too! Some of my favorite pocket knives were like this such as: Queen mini-hunter and Old (I think 1920s) Case knives made for what I assume to be gardening. The case one was pretty awesome too, hardwood scales (I think walnut), brass bolster, 2" spear point blade and that's it!

If you can figure out that little problem you'll be a rich man.

The #73 is a medium knife. Now if you want to talk about big knives I have a couple of those too.

:devilish:

Nice specimens... That Hawk is especially a very attractive piece, imo :)

I love all knives, large and small. I myself once succumbed to the siren song of the peanut -- it's wonderful to carry and makes the perfect worry stone. But when using it, I found that my hand would start cramping up after prolonged use, especially whittling. So I gifted it to someone who appreciates it. Truth be told I still hear the siren song every now and then...

But when my 73 isn't in my pocket, I miss it. It was my gift for my first fathers day. I chose it because it reminded me of my dad, whose Old Timer 250T has been his go-to knife for almost 40 years. I watched him use that 250T like a fine scalpel, the way many people describe using their peanut.

But back to our sheep...my wife calls my 73 my "Dad Knife". I think Christian's 73 has a similar name, doesn't it?

Here's my Dad Knife:

-- Mikel.

Nice Mikel!

I love the 73 also. Mine is just like Mikels except it is bear ended.

"The 73 Club".............I like it. :D

Alox saks are just about right for me. I can't go with anything smaller. I bought a 66 moose from GEC and even that is too small. I was a little disappointed with that one.

You don't know the power of the Dark Side. These peanuts are surprising after you use them for a while. How can something so small be so useful? You have to find out for yourself. My Remington nut is slowly edging my other knives out of my pocket, it just kicked my Charlow out. I still have my Tribal Spear and Insingo to EDC with the nut.

The 73/Lannys Clip/Zulu size is just about perfect. But I like variety ;).

Use the right tool for the job though, I would use my UNK on a walrus .

Just don't close your mind to possibilities. I never would've thought I'd be the one with a peanut in my pocket.

Never said I haven't tried the tiny ones. I used to have a Queen half-whittler ~ 3 1/8" closed. Neat little knife, but I didn't like using it. Much too small. No way I'll favor a peanut.
