This knife just feels better

I started with Kershaw knifes I used to buy from my Snap-on dealer way back in the 80s , my first was this survival knife I had to have cause it looked so Awesome , certainly better than another ratchet 👍

The non-flipper XM-18 kinda changed my life. I was a knife knerd before, but the non-flipper, particularly this 3” version, really flipped the script. Once I got this and no longer had to deal with that weird, curved flipper tab, it was a game changer!

As far as folders go, it's probably the Native 5. Especially after I put AWT scales on it, every folder I've bought since winds up losing out to the Native 5 after maybe a week. I even sold my PM2 Salt on after the first week. It's really slowed my folder purchases down to a crawl.

For fixed blades, I have a real love for the contoured handles on the Guardian 3.2. Just looking at the knife it seems like it would have too little handle length compared to the blade, but it fits right as rain in my hand and is one of the best pocket carry fixed blades I've ever come across.

My first positive experience with a custom knife was when I purchased one from Andy Roy when he first got into building Fiddleback Forge. I had known Andy for a good while, but when I first held the knife he crafted, it felt like literally shaking the man's hand. The way his grips are contoured are a thing of ergonomic magic.

I have three of his knives, and all of them are easily in my top 5 most comfy. I might even go as far to say that my very first knife of his may be my favorite knife in my entire collection. The comfort level of using it makes for something I would be hard pressed to keep off my hip if you made me pick ONE do-it-all knife out in the boonies.

Here's my newest Fiddleback, a Monarch next to my very first one, a Woodsman.
Both are some of my favorite users.

Def when I discovered the Dpx Hest f lefty and currently small inkosi tanto lefty. Really wish Dpx would do the urban in a lefty, seems like the perfect size and materials.

I do like my Spydercos and have been carrying them for years (a Delica is what started my journey down the knife enthusiast rabbit hole) but when I got my first Sebenza I was overjoyed with the simple, slim design. I like using many different hand/knife positions and the simple handle and blade that is in line with the handle makes the Sebenza much more usable for me than Spydies with crazy sculpted handles and "negative blade angle." A small Sebenza is also just the right size for me.

I'm guessing this is mostly about the feel in-hand? I can think of a few along the way. Definitely a ZT 0562 and a Para 2 for the early ones that got me thinking into checking more stuff out. I still love the feel of both and carry often. Pretty much all my ZTs feel superb in-hand.

Maybe a couple of later ones, both the large CRK Seb and Inkosi have a unique "feel" to them. The only thing that isn't perfect to me is that little peak on the back of the grip, because I can feel it pressing into my palm.

It would be hard to pick a favorite feel / ergo across everything I have now, but I would say the Spartan large Harsey would be right up at the top. That knife just fits in my hand like it was born there.
