I arrived in South Dakota yesterday morning, and my dad and I drove over to Moorcroft, Wyoming yesterday afternoon. This morning we got our antelopes. I got mine at 6:28AM, which was the legal hunting time:
I used my Cooper Arms M22 Phoenix in 6.5x55 SE using a Sierra 120gr Spitzer Pro-Hunter bullet. I fired a single round, and the distance was about 150 yards.
My dad got his twelve minutes later, at 6:40AM:
He used his Cooper Arms M52 Classic with French Walnut stock that is chambered in .30-06. His distance was about 200 yards. Again, a single shot.
My Satin + Snakeskin SJTAC worked great for dressing both antelope:
Oh, and lopping off the heads using the FBMLE was a breeze. The cuts were fairly clean, so it was a matter of simply wiping off the blade.
Here we are, with the antelope heads:
My dad will be preparing his usual Euro mounts. I will be able to bring mine back to California on Monday.
This afternoon is when the real adventure begins: my dad's elk hunt.
