  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

This paracord is getting old!

apparently dozens or hundreds of people have these scales already as gifts. where's MINE! :)

geez ;>

Wow. If there were one color I would want more than the orange/black, it would be the neon green just like the scales on the zombie knives. That is pretty epic. I am sorely tempted to make those myself. I may be making a trip to family dollar. I was originally going to pick up some of the glow in the dark Izula scales from Ebay, but I have decided to wait around for the orange and black handles purely because of price. But if price is my concern, making these handles may win as I like the color more and it would be something I made myself. Looking at these pics almost makes me wish I wouldn't have stripped my bk-14.

Cheap cutting board from Family Dollar....$1
Weekends spent hand sanding....3
Finding out the weekend you are done that factory scales are coming out....priceless!

send them to me if you don't like them :)

i have to do this. mmm. green.

There is actually a little texture on the sides. In my haste to pic and post I didn't do the cutting board justice. Just to test durability some I threw them in the freezer overnight and then tried to snap them before I put them on. Didn't do a heat test. Wouldn't want anything that hot that close to my hands anyhow. The texture lets them hold dirty easily, but cleanup isn't all that bad. This should make a nice easy to find camping color and be somewhat less intimidating since everyone knows I love the Walking Dead stuff. :D The last KOA camping I pulled out the BK2 to sharpen marshmallow sticks and my sheeple friends went in to shock. I retreated from thier RV site back to my tent site with my precious BK2 sans the marshmallows I had brought.:grumpy: Now I sport this and a BK11 with orange G10 for those kumbaya times.

I have a question about the homemade scales. The factory scales have a raised insert that fits in the handle cutouts to keep the scales from slipping since the 14 has no screwholes......how do u make the flat cuttingboard scales hold securely?? glue? rely on pressure fit? did u make some sorta insert on the backside?

I used a nylon blank wall plate cover from home depot cut to make inserts and glued them to the cutting board scales. The glue is holding so far with help of friction when I tighten down, but I may sink a couple of drift pins in when I make another hardware store run. Sorry about the quality of the pics...
