This person is hard on their knives!

whats with this guy and breaking tips? And it's up to 33 bucks already? I mean I can understand if these knives are particularly valuable but they are just run of the mill production knives, and not even very high end productions knives either...

Whats wrong with buying a abused knife then sending it in under warranty ? I mean its kinda like the craftsman warranty . You break it take it back and get a new one.
I did it once and they sent me a brand new one . Did I do something wrong ? If you had a car you just bought and the motor went up cause the guy who owned it ran the crap out of it , but its still under warranty. You would pay for the repair outta your own pocket ???

He probably saying the damage on the knives look as such that it wouldn't fall under a warranty. If you use a knife as a pry bar that would void most warranties.I think what else he is saying that he would hope no knife knut here would take advantage of a knife company by buying damaged knives to just get free replacements putting a financial cost on the company.Anyway, what do you plan on telling them happend to the knife when you send them in.I mean they might want to know what was done to cause the damage before just sending a new one.Do you plan on fabricating some b.s. story to get a new knife. We don't know what this guy did to these knives to get them in the condition they are in,what will you tell Buck etc?

Well with The knife I sent them , I just sent the knife and my name and address , They never asked what I did to it. The warranty covers
broken tips blades ect . Like craftmans do with the tools they sell . I seeen a guy take a screwdriver that he bought ,and like 3 weeks later he wanted to see if he could take it back if it broke . So he stuck it in a clamps and bent it almost in half. he took it in to sears and they handed him a brand new one no questions asked !

LMAO

The seller would make an exceptional "poster child" for "what not to do with perfectly good knives !"

Another fine example of. . .people will buy anything on e-bay !

LOL

It looks like this guy is selling store returns. If you look around you can find places that sell this junk by the pallet. If it is cheap enough someone will buy it.

>"I have bought some buck knives in worst shape and simply sent them back to buck knives and had a new one in the mail a few weeks later ! Still Idiots ? I dont think so"

=====================================

No, I guess idiot wouldn't be the right word. "Cheat," maybe? Or "conniver?" Instant kharma's gonna get you.

D'ya think this guy goes around bitching about how "Buck just don't make knives like they used ta..."?

Well that was years ago that I did that sorta thing ! I could say I'm one of the most honest people you could meet. If i get over paid at a store i will give it back , or if someone drops money or something outta the pocket i would be the first to give it back. I was just saying that because I know other people will be doing what I once did. Yeah maybe they are better words.

mnblade,

I'm not sure I understand your objection. If a warranty offers full coverage, without a receipt, transferable, how is it cheating or conniving to utilize the warranty? If someone bought a knife including a full and transferable warranty, then broke the knife while under warranty, then transferred ownership, then why shouldn't the new owner utilize the warranty? It seems to me like this would be a case where the knife manufacturer voluntarily entered into selling the knife with such a warranty, and the knife owner voluntarily sold the damaged but warranted knife, and the buyer voluntarily bought the damaged but warranted knife. Where's the problem?

Could you please spell out for me exactly what you object to, and why?

Thanks.

KennieyK, I hope that it didn't sound like I was picking on you personally.

There is no doubt some people have, and will continue to take advantage of a companies good will. Hopefully few would.

Perhaps BUck may have a procedure like some other companies, destroy abused knives so they won't continue to reappear.

exactly what you object to, and why

I think I can do this by analogy, Let's say I buy a new (or used car), drain all the oil out, drive it until the engine is damaged, then try to claim it as a warranty issue and get a replacement.

That's a no brainer, I abused the car, I probably shouldn't get any consideration.

This is exactly the same as these knives, I can conceive of nothing other than those knives where the victim of deliberate abuse. To try and claim a replacement is wrong and not in good faith. I would agree that if someone practices this behavior they are dishonest, a fraud, etc..

If (A) the warranty specifies what constitutes abuse, (B) says that abuse is not covered, and (C) a knife was damaged by abuse as defined, then I fully agree with you.

I'm not familiar with the warranties for those knives, nor (obviously) with the details of how those knives were damaged.

Sounds like we are pretty much on the same page then, with the exception that IMO deliberate abuse is the only thing that could put knives in that kind of shape.

I just emailed the seller to see if I could get any details about the knives.

Theres been 808 views of that ebay item .13 bids so far . I bet he gets a good bit befor its all said and done :) I would guess $75.00. That reminds me to check out my ebay Items! I'm selling new knives and Cant get over 5 bids with one hour to go :(

I just now noticed that there were bids. Will Buck really take those back for new ones? Seems kind of like a waranty abuse, but if they honor it, how could you not send them in.

BECAUSE IT IS WRONG.

Here's some thoughts:

If all the knives have broken tips or blades, including the one in the package, why are they auctioning the package, too? This may lead to fraud down the line!

This seller has accumulated a bunch of damaged knives (probably for free or very small cost & makes a profit) & whoever wins the bid may feel they can regrind the blades or replace the blades completely without taking advantage of Buck's warranty & still make a profit from some unsuspecting purchaser. Depends on how he/she markets them.

Oh well! It's off to e-bay to see what I can bid on!:D
