I've quit showing people my new knives. No one cares. My wife cares, but that's what she's paid for. lol. And if someone does "care" it's just long enough to show me their piece of crap they bought at the gas station with surgical steel.

We are just strangers in a strange land . . .

I've had an expensive knife for an EDC the last 8 months and only the folks here know about it.

My kids always rat me out to mom, but this last time I was carrying an inexpensive copy a few months prior. They may think it's the same one.

It's both a relief and a disappointment.

I guess you posted without thinking so this is only a warning, but if you want to advertise a knife for sale on Bladeforums you have to become a member and post in the appropriate forum.

my favorite blade. BM presidio 5000. LOVE this one.

Newest EDC, BM 710. I'm learning to love it. It's a little wierd after being used to autoaxis in the 5000. I keep pulling it down and waiting for the pop.

EDC surge. Polished up edges. Looking to replace it.

I have a zillion others. Notables, m16-14T, some saks, old timers... on so on.

tirod3, did you score yourself a Kit Carson model 4? Is that the expensive knife that you are carrying?

Cool knives, man. We certainly appreciate 'em. In fact, I've been carrying a Presidio for quite some time now.

I hear ya, JB. Just the other day, I asked to see a knife in an acquaintance's pocket because it didn't look like the gas station toy you mentioned. Well, it turned out to be a magnum, so that's better than nothing, I suppose. When I handed him my Lone Wolf Harsey T2 Ranger, he looked at it like it wasn't even there(blank stare, no admiration what so ever). He told me he got his for $50 from some guy in some rat hole, and when I told him the T2 he was holding cost $130(which was a decent price) he said, "$130 for THIS!!" Good thing I didn't tell him the MSRP.

I'm sure everyone here has moments like this. With the possible exception of some random guy carrying a Case, I have yet to meet another knife person.

Another incedent that occured quite recently; an old highschool friend stopped by, and I was showing her some of my kitchen knives. Normally, I wouldn't bother, but she is the daughter of a local, well respected restauranteur, and has worked in that restaurant since she was a child. When I handed her a Global, I may as well have handed her a masonary trowel. She picks it up and hefts it, "pretty light," she says(good reaction so far), then proceeds to bounce the tip on the counter as though she's performing some test. She then turned to the cutting board and cut some imaginary vegetables. WTF! What would she have done if I handed her a hammer, start pounding imaginary nails into the wall?

Sorry for the rant, but I've been wanting to gripe about this for a while, and it makes me feel better that I'm not alone.

C'mon Jack what else you got there?
Post it up, All those folders are similar styles what fixed blades you got?
I am sitting on $20 bucks here, I'll buy something nice if you show me what ya got.

I know what you mean, as there is no one in my life that appreciates my custom knives or knives in general. I have one friend that likes knives, and asks me for advice on occasion. I find my solice here, with all of you guys.

what a strange reaction to a knife. lol you should have given her the hammer, she prolly would have tried to shave some hair with it.

Jack I sometimes think the "other" knives that people have are the most interesting.
Like your Solingen knife, I would like to see that.
Everyone here has seen a "Satin Jack" and a Spyderco Police.
Its the other lesser known knives in a collection that are interesting
