Just to nag a little about the new police. With every great spiderco there must be some nagging. We cant loose this great tradition. What a great design the p3 is.

I would love this knife in some coloured aluminium slaps on the handle instead of g10. I would prefer bone or wood even more but I know that this will cost too much to be profitable for spyderco. Maybe a sprint run. Maybe some smooth white mcarta or blue. WITH OUT THE 4 WAY CLIP HOLES.

Aluminium should not cost too much more than g10. I am sooooooooo sick of g10. I have a drawer full of great knives with great design that look the same all black friking g10. Have no soul or personality.

This plague that went down upon us called g10. Easy to work with, easy to machine, very hard working. It possessed the souls of knife makers.

With all my respect to g10 lovers.

Has the new Police3 been out a week yet? I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to bitch about the 4-way clip holes, just as someone always bitches about the clip not being where they want it if it doesn't have the 4-way option.

The solution to your problem is simple - have STR or some other knifesmith make you a set of scales in the material of your choice with clip holes only where you want them. Personally, I'll take G-10 in any color over any metal scales.

It is actually called voicing an opinion. A personal opinion. It is not even criticism. Why do you call it bitching????
*Edited* Not necessary... Keep the personal comments to yourself please. TazKristi

I am aware of STR and his fine work. I am talking in general.

i am also i bit tired to black g-10 knives but the majority of other materials get so slick when they are wet . they feel right dangerous. this goes first and foremost with one hand openers i believe. -CB

Try releasing your caps lock while mentioning your dislike of the four way clip holes. In internet usage, that is called shouting. When someone shouts about their dislike of a feature, I call it bitching. That's my personal opinion. I also prefer RH TD clip position, but I'll settle for having it as an option.

That's called a personal attack, and it wasn't warranted. Post reported.

Wow, someone dislikes black g-10? I thought people only complained about foliage green g-10... ;)

I only have 2 knives so I'm not sick of G10.

Solution: own less knives

I like G-10, and I am a lefty so I love 4 way clips. However, I do understand where he is coming from.

There is just something about natural materials. I have plenty of knives made of super steels with indistructible handles. But there is something about my bone slabbed folders and wood handeled and leather stacked knives that keeps me coming back.

I have a traditonal Friction folder. A design that was probably invented in the days of Bronze and made it over to the era of Steel. If it wasnt for the fact it is kind of long, wears out my pockets, and has a bad attitude when I reach in there for my Cellphone or keys (depending what pocket it is in). I would carry the new yet ancient knife more often.

I wish I could justify buying the new Police. I really, really want one. I have handeled many police, but never owned one. But I cant afford it right now and my Endrua 4 with the Emerson Pat. device is just way too cool, so it will continue to be my EDC.

And here I was thinking how nice it is to finally get away from all the aluminum handled knives (especially those of a respected manufacturer of high-end production knives who shall remain nameless) and to see knife handles made from a material that is truly durable.

Maybe not as beautiful initially, but if you really use your knives, you can count on aluminum handled knives looking like crap in no time.

I know that aluminium is not the best in the world. Wood or bone would be much better.

Believe it or not, I actually prefer the wear and tear on aluminium to G10.
G10 is the most boring thing since .... since what??? its the most boring thing ever.

How come case knives can afford bone handles and keep their prices fairly down??????????

If it was not for the dreaded 4 way clip, spyderco would probably make more knives with bone or other natural material.

But having to drill 12 or more holes in the handle makes g10 very irresistible because what natural material would take all that drilling with out cracking during the manufacturing or with the end user.

The new police reminds me of the mnandi , only much better looking. Imagain the police3 with nice wood or bone

I'm actually happy that the new Police will have G-10 handles as opposed to the metal ones. The reason I never bought the older version was because it just felt slippery, not to mention it gets hotter than a monkey's ass in heat when left in the sun for more than um.....1 second .

And the four way clip positions are great for everybody. Not everyone is right handed, I am, but maybe not the next guy. Then, me or the next guy might want tip up or tip down. People still gripe about the Military not having left or right hand positilities, and even tip up carry options (hopefully soon).

Now, I can agree about Black G-10 having the same old look on half the knives we own, but that's why I also buy and carry traditional folders with more desireable handle materials. I'm sure it would be nice to at least get an assortment of maybe blue, green, and even a digi-camo would be cool.

I feel your pain, and I'd just like you to know that if you'd like to unload all those ugly and soulless G10 handled knives, I'd be happy to take them off your hands at no cost to you. Just let me know and I'll let you give them to me, and you can have them out of your life forever. I don't want a dime. If you want to pay for postage to give me your knives, that's up to you, but you don't have to. Just imagine how much better you'll feel knowing they are out of your life forever. End your pain now, my friend.

I promise to find a good home for them with some unsuspecting G10 loving sucker.

I will give you the knife if you send me the wife. I'll buy the plane ticket. I hope she is natural.
