This Portable Band Saw Good or Bad

Hi Pancho,

How does attaching a larger working surface to the machine, so it can be used as a vertical saw look to you.

I'm not sure I understand what it is you want to do. In the link I posted another maker had a lrger tool rest than the one that comes with it. Do you want to mount it some how to a side of a table or something like that?

I used the saw for a while, the plastic drive wheels broke and I bought a bigger saw. Here it is mounted on a wood frame. I just removed the handle and used the screws and holes to mount. I got the warrenty and they gave me two replacements which lasted a little over a year. Based on that cost the lower saw is a better buy on sale. It is mounted and a HF tool stand.

This a better setup, more blades available easier to use.

I have the HF saw and I mounted it to the wall. It works fine and I have had no problems with it. Look for it on sale, I paid $69 for mine.

I found this saw if used regularly will only stay together for a year or less. Get it when it is on sale and get the replacement plan. I really liked how the saw cut and its pretty amazing how something so cheaply made actually worked really well for several months.

i got the one in the lower pic, but i actually threw the bigger work surface it came with away, and made one from mild steel, about 4'' x 2'' and that's all i really need, and i cut every thing i use for knives with it. had it for about 3 yrs + now, still going strong.

periodically need to replace the work rest , cause the slot for the blade becomes worn, and after a bit when cutting things like thin nickle silver , they start to get deformed on the cut when there pulled into the slot. if that makes sense.
