Finally got around to recoating my BK-9. In fluorescent orange paint. Gonna be hard to lose it now :D

Ugliest.
Knife.
Ever.

But I love it. Well done. I love using my BK9 when I'm out in the woods, and you're right; with that bright 'hunter' orange coating, you'll never lose the blade once it's drawn.

Of course, the flourescent orange blade is still held in a camo green sheath ...

Sweet.
Paint the handles a glow-in-the-dark yellow and you can see that thing miles away.

Very unique.

What kind of coating was used? I ask mainly because it appears from the photo that there is some chipping near the edge (presumably from sharpening), and I'm curious how well it will hold up with use. Of course, all coatings will wear to varying degrees, but some are obviously more durable than others. Either way, I'm sure you won't see too many other people with similar knives. :D

How many batteries does that thing take? I LOVE it? That is GREAT for being out in the woods!!

I think that looks cool, it will look scuffed up as all hell once you use it but I think it looks pretty good.

A friend suggested that I do a diagonal yellow and black hazard stripe paint job on it. I probably would have if I hadn't already bought the orange paint...

I just used some oil-based fluorescent spray paint. The "chipping" is from some masking tape I put over the edge, which on due reflection probably wasn't necessary.

I figure that the paint job will not wear well. But I don't care much about that. It's basically a proof-of-concept: if I decide that I really like the orange, I'll just send it off and get a custom orange epoxy powder-coat done once the paint is mostly gone.

And in the interim it'll be good for a few laughs, and I've just eliminated the mall ninja tactical black paint job factor from the law enforcement officer relations equation :).

Yeah. I figure that the only way I'll be able to lose it is if I drop it into a swamp. I've read stories about guys dropping camo-finished knives at their feet and losing them. That won't happen with this puppy...;)

Thanks. I'm actually looking forwards to getting it scuffed up. The paint job is too fresh and clean. I might go camping out back this weekend...

If it doesn't work out in the woods, you can always direct traffic with it.:) Nice job, it is truely a one off.

SEW-WEEET! No reason you can't put some "tactical tiger stripes" ala Strider on it. Call it the Bengal Becker :p

Wanna trade those black slabs for some desert camo ones? Thay oughta up the ugly factor!!

:D
