Dip-switches on the floor are great untill...

I used to have a Ford 100E Anglia with a 3-speed box and the dip-switch on the floor. Driving along a road at night, left foot over the dip-switch, dipping to every oncoming car. Come to a junction, press the dip-switch instead of the clutch, crash the gears and glide to a near halt, blind the other drivers with main beam, have to brake to a halt in order to change into first (no synchro). Embarrasing...!
