I have only been browsing this forum regularly for the past few months, despite being a member for years. In that time, it only took me a week or so to decide I needed a Nessmuk. I got lucky and found one by Dan Koster for sale, so I jumped on it. $150 down. Then a couple of weeks ago, I decided I needed a Fiddleback Nessie to keep my Koster one company. They are very different designs, so I didn't feel like they filled exactly the same niche in my collection. There goes another $150.

Then I decided to hop in on the Koster bushcraft knife preorder. I love my Nessie and I just can't resist getting another Koster knife for such a low price. At $100, I'd much rather have a hand-made Koster than any production knife.

All this time I keep seeing the NWA forum knife in tknife's sig and thinking how nice it looks. I don't have a knife that size and could really use one...So now I'm putting my name down for one in late spring 2008. I am pumped. May can't get here fast enough, as far as I'm concerned.

So there you have it. This forum is destroying my wallet. I haven't even mentioned the firesteel, Fox40 whistle, and other assorted items I've purchased since browsing the threads in here. If I don't stop, there will be no Christmas for my family and I'll need to start job hunting.

Its my favorite forum at BF bar none, but foruming in general puts a punch on the wallet. I agree with that part.

Of course on the flip side, I have gained a TON of knowledge in a short amount of time. There are so many knowledgeable members that hang out in here. Just last night I made a small fire on my back porch with a firesteel and 1 square of TP. I couldn't have done it with all the tinder in the world a month ago.

Glad you found us even though I don't think we were lost ,I read & spend most time in this forum and skip thru the others from time to time But this sub forum is my home for reading /asking ? and helping others and asking for help... and yes I too am low on funds due to this page but I have a pair of BF NWA's on the way ...LOL !!!!

Yep this forum is the best for knowledge and great people, and the worst for the wallet, lol!

(sorry to torture you with my sig again :D)

Not what I was expecting when I saw the title!

I split time between here, the sell forums and the makers area. All are tough on the pocketbook!

Now if you will excuse me I'm going to find the sign up for the NWA Forum knife. Didn't realize that it was open for orders. Thanks a lot Snow, it's your fault now!!!

Ya I know what you mean. My wife would rather I surfed porn all day than surf this forum.

Ya I know what you mean. My wife would rather I surfed porn all day than surf this forum.

Ha! I hear that! Surfing porn doesn't cost anything. But then, what do you have to from surfing porn all the time? Well. maybe don't answer that...

This forum certain has its evilness. After buying the fantastic NWA Forum knife, I told my wife that I was done with knife purchases for the rest of the year. I did pretty well until about a month ago. I have 6 pieces inbound between now and the end of the year. :( :) :(

But it isn't just the knives that hurt. Gear Accumulation Syndrome (GAC) is also affected. Once I know what works for me, I get a little itch to try other things. I try to resist as best I can, but everyone has a breaking point. In the last month, I've broken down and decided to try a canister stove and Ti cookware.

And finally, this forum contributes to bouts of minor depression when I realize that I just can't run out and play in the woods as often as I'd like. Time is tight, and trips need to be planned. But what better way to deal with that sort of depression than to do a little edged tool or gear shopping therapy?!? Weeee!

This is my most favorite forum. It is the only one I visit each and every day. I have learned a lot of great info from the fantastic people that participate here. I've also gotten to live through the adventures of others here. Through the forum, I've visited places I could only dream of in my lifetime. This is a fun place, thanks to everyone here!

This forum and the extra info in it have certainly helped propel my obsession with perfecting my 'kit' and the skills that go along with it. It was already pretty bad, but the fires are certainly fueled now (figuratively and literally, I suppose!).

Knife-o-mania is probably the worst part. Now I have to also own a BRKT Aurora, an F1, a dozen custom knives, etc. just to make sure they aren't superior to things I already have!

Probably even a year ago, I wouldn't have imagined spending $100 on one a knife, now I'm reaching for my credit card...

Stupid sexy bushcraft knives...

Don't post here much cuz I'm too busy readin threads. One of the best subforums and have learned so much. But, yes, It'll break ya financially.

You guys are directly responsible for my empty pockets, yet somehow I feel richer for having been here.

Exactly, I saw that NWA knife too and I want it so baaaaadddd. I should probably get on the list, but my wife will slap me hard if I get another blade. I only have one shot to get it and that is to say its for one of my daughters to use. Then whole family will have great blades on their belts when we go outdoors.

****Edit - I added myself to the list (if I didn't I would kick myself next year). I'm pretty sure I can start scrounging for the funds by the time his backlog gets caught up.

Before I joined blade forums, I didnt care what steel a knife was made from, and I thought I only needed one good knife...Then I join bladeforums(I found it through W&S forum, just looking for some outdoors info), Now I care about steel, and I will never have enough knives haha.

Oh, I heartily agree! I have purchased (or ordered) something like 5 knives in the last year because of tknife, Myakka, Fiddleback, and several others who I follow through their adventures. I too have learned a lot and am hoping to practice sooner than later with my 2 sons. Thanks guys!
