This weekends camping with the family.

im glad your family had fun. I miss doing with my parents, we usually went to the hiawassee river in reliance, Tn. It is one of my favorite places in the whole world to camp and have fun. I look forward to doing this oneday with a family of my own.
 
This is way cool, thanks for the ideas. I love teaching my kids outdoors skills, and prying their hands away from their Nintendos.

What I find is that we restrict the Game Boy to the car (for the trip) and they will simply figure out something to do. If they say they are bored - we just let them sit. We give them a few options - and after some time - they are off doing their own thing. They built 'traps', they built a waterfall (after the rain) and so on. It is like when they don't like what we make for dinner. We leave it out - let them get hungry - and suddenly their tastes change! ;)

Nice pictures Talfuchre and it looks like your family had a really great time. The age of your boys seems just right to introduce them to camping and a good fun car camping trip like you had might is probably the best way to start.

Looks like a fun trip Talfuchre. I hear ya about the nintendo stuff-I have 2 teenaged boys and they play xbox until they can't see straight (if I let them). They always enjoy doing whatever we can outdoors and thus great memories are made.

BTW, I'd love to know more about the peg trap Doc is discussing, so feel free to post up your findings!
