This years winter (hut HUT) shelter W.I.P.

Nice hut hut Bryan. I should have been outside building something like that today instead of sitting on my butt the whole time.

I was really hoping for some snow today but once again we got NOTHING up here!

Hi all,
The Game, Thanks.

IA Woodsman, Thanks, With the fire today it was really
pretty warm. kathy said it was warmer than the canvas
tarp shelter we had last year. I will agree with here.
I think the space blanket really reflected the heat back
down to us.

Fiddleback, thanks man, LMT66 got it with his link.

Well we had rain last (no snow though) night and a
pretty good amount.
When I got up this morning, it was still raining. It was
misting some and kathy and I kept our ponchos handy.

Out on the trial to the hut kathy snapped this pic of me.
I love this pack. even it you have the days gears and
3 bricks in it lol. I had about 27 pounds total.
This pack is really carried well and I am pretty pleased with
it so far.

The 3 bricks were for the rest of the ring around the firepit.

That concrete peice that I have for the reflector I carried in also.
After I did that I was like crap I am not going to do that again.
kathy says the avere time to get from the suv to the hut is 12 minutes
I picked up that concrete a bout a minute or two after we were
into our walk the other day. This time I picked out 3 bricks and
put them into that new pack and boy was it so much easyer lol.
On the way out my pack was quite a bit lighter too lol.

The shelter was nice and dry inside even though every thing else was
pretty wet.

I got started on get the fire ready for lighting. Shaved up a few sticks
and made some shavings, spilt some wood and stuff like that.

I like how Nessmuk says and if you are a woodsman you will use just one match to light your fire. I did just that lol.

To roast a few of these:D

It was misting outside but really pretty warm inside the
shelter, the smoke was not to bad, Much like I had last year.
If you keep your fire going it really does not smoke much, but
if you let it die down then look out lol.

All in all it was a great few hours to be out in the woods and
in the shelter, dry and warm and eating good.

Well all chat with you later,

Bryan

Rocketbomb, Thanks, Yea we did not get any snow down here either,
I was not hoping for it though either lol. Rain was enough for me
Yea building a shelter for the winter is pretty cool.

Take care,

Bryan
