I lost interest in Kershaw somewhere in the 80s. Knives were well made, but the steel didn't work so well. Didn't give them another look until about 5-6 years ago.
They had revamped everything, and gone on with Ken Onion and others, and then with better steels. I bought a couple that I really liked design wise, and I was back on board with Kershaw. I had a small problem with one of the knives (which I decided to fix myself - it wasn't anything big) and was in touch with Thomas. What a guy.
His response was "just tell me what you want to do". After that, and then coming here and seeing his hands on responses as well as making sure that the Kershaw reputation remains bulletproof, he absolutely rid me of any doubts about Kershaw. Honestly, when he described his daily regimen as well as litany of responsibilities, I have no idea how he answers anybody's email, or has time to participate here.
Now several Kershaws later, that is indeed mostly due to me knowing that Kershaw has someone like Thomas in the company. It is obvious all he does is more than just a job for him.
Good on 'ya Thomas. Keep it up (when you have a chance!)
