Hi Thomas,

On 8/20 you said that the NRG was still being developed.

On 8/26 Mike Dye at NGK posted that they had the NRG2 (or ENER-G II as it is called on the Kershaw website), model 1745, available.

NGK does not, in my experience, say something new is available for purchase if they do not have it in house. So I called them up this afternoon and placed an order for the 1745. It was shipped today and I should have it the first part of next week. When I made the call to order the knife I wanted to ask the folks at NGK about how/when/where they got the knife, keeping in mind what I recalled you saying on 8/20, but didn't have time to do so because I was on my lunch break.

So I'm curious to know if you can offer any insight on NGK's having a knife that was said to still be in development 10 days ago, because that seems incongruous. When it was said the model was still in development, I would take that to mean any sizes and/or versions. But, is it possibly the case that one size is out and the other is not? Is it perhaps a prototype or an advance copy, so to speak, sent to a dealer?

Thanks,
Nathan

Hi Nathan

Craig caught me a little off gaurd with the 1745's. I thought they would be a bit longer prior to being shipped, but I do believe we sent out a very small shipment of the 1745's (100 pieces or so). The smaller version has yet to ship.

I won't be in the office till next week to confirm, but I would say if NGK says they have them in stock, they do.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the info Thomas, much appreciated. I trusted NGK to be selling exactly what they said they were, just wasn't sure if something was out of kilter for the knife to have moved so fast from development to shipment.

I'm really looking forward to the knife.

Great, I'm already busy not being able to afford or find the Dam Leek, and Craig goes and ships the NRG II! I've wanted one since I first read the description.

BTW, the Kershaw web site calls the 1745 the ENER-G II now instead of the NRG II, is this the correct new name?

Thomas, aren't you supposed to be on vacation, or are you back and already on the road again? If you are still on vacation, then stop working! We really appreciate the answers though, so if you absolutely have to post work related stuff, at least have one of those Long Island Iced Teas handy or since you are in Hawaii, something with fruit and umbrellas. Maybe post some pictures of the beach while you are at it. :D

Yea I'm still on my long over due vacation, but jumped on when the wife wasn't looking.

Hopefully my posts have been ledgible.

ENER-G is now correct.

Sneaking on to Bladeforums while vacationing in Hawaii. Man, if that's not the true power of the dark side, I don't know what is. ;)

Wait, don't even read this. Go back to the beach!
