Those China axes

I have noticed that quite a number of hardware and DIY stores are well stocked with those made-in-china axes.

They are pretty cheap. Heck, too cheap. But I often wonder about their durability and other properties.

Have they got any redeeming qualities?

some of the better ones i have ground and cut with a oxy (direct heat to a specific source doesnt affect the temper) into nordic styled axes...they arnt too bad, I have got a shaving sharp edge on them and re-bated some to sell to re-inactment groups.

most you have to work, some of them are crap...but it isnt as black and white as the previous 2 posts would state.
