This one had been laying on the bench a while. I just could not decide whether I was going to do file work, engrave,do a cut out in the blade or brass inlay. So I decided to just leave it alone and finish it. Forged from 1 in. square 1045. Handle is curly maple with pewter end caps. What do you think to plain looking?

Well done Stuart! Needs nothing that I can see. Beauty of a handle.

Thanks Fred, That is one of the problems I have always had. I can't leave well enough alone. I get to thinking I wonder how it would look if.... and I usually end up screwing up. I guess when it is finished leave it alone

Perfect the way it is! You and I do the same thing with the thinking about it instead of just finishing it. I always feel like there's something more that I could do. I love this though. The handle is enough dress for it alone!

Very nice; too bad all plain janes aren't as nice looking.:D

One observation about custom/handmade knives and firearms. When a maker can take a knife/firearm that does not have a lot of embellishment (SP?) and make it look slick, smooth, and sexy is saying a lot about a maker's skill. Some folks can really dress up a piece, but not have basic lines/fundamental aspects down. Nice work. Now ship the piece to my addreess for saying such nice things about your work!:D

I think the steel and the wood speak for themselves , and it doesnt require anything more , its already purfect , cant improve upon that :)

that is awesome, is it by chance a true smoking hawk or does it just appear to be.

very nice work
