Some of the CRK-like flippers I've owned are a Shirogorov Hati and a Southard AVO. Honestly, the switchblade-y slamming open of the blade was not for me. It just seems like it could cause premature wear on stop pins/lock faces. I found myself constantly doing a really careful press flip to open them easier.
I've always thought XM-18s are ugly. Haha. I have two gen 4s. And I LOVE the way they flip. It is a really controlled action, but it also gives me a lot of control on how I want to open them. Oddly enough, I prefer a Lg Sebenza, but I gravitate more toward my smaller 3" XM. but it may also be because I prefer its thinner grind over my 3.5"'s "Spearpoint" saber grind. One thing that is really important with a knife is USING it to find out if it floats your boat. If I sit and hold knives in my hand, I can squeeze them and flip them around in different hand positions and have one idea, but that will change once I put some force on it. My Sebenzas are much more comfortable just holding them. My XM's are uncomfortable by comparison. But if I'm cutting something with a lot of resistance, the XM's ergos really shine through.
I've never been interested in any of the ZT offerings mainly because I can nitpick their designs apart where I can't with the XMs. They are seriously well designed. Plus I really the idea of my knives being made in small batches.
