well hell today has just sucked. It started off great received 2 new knives in the mail. KaBar fighter and swamprat m6(both sharp too). I immediately took the swamp rat out to play. Had some pallets to cut up. I was going through the pallet and I hit a piece of metal in it I guess and the blade broke  about a 1/2" by 1" section in the middle of the blade broke off. I got so mad I turned and punched my garage brick wall and accidently put my fist through the window instead. :grumpy: My hand hasnt quit bleeding yet the flesh is gone and you can see bare knuckles on 2 fingers. This was 3 hrs ago. I have superglued the hell out of it and had a turniquet on for a while. It has slowed down alot now but still seeping around the glue. I got gauze and duct tape holding it together now. Man these are some wicked cuts. Big chunks of flesh missing.Hurts like the dickens. I emailed swamp rat and they called me back in about 15 minutes telling me a replacement goes out tomorrow and to send this one back tomorrow. They said they need to study that knife blade. No one has ever broke an M6. Nor have they had but 1 or 2 returns in their history where such a thing happened. Their customer support is the best I have ever dealt with.I guess I am just blessed this way. Now if my hand would stop bleeding and throbbing. All in all a crappy day. I couldnt go fishing this evening either because of my new hand injury. God I must control my raging temper at times.

You need one of those little guys who sits on your shoulder and tells you to calm down when stuff like that happens. Hope it heals up quick.

wicked1, are you bleeding all over the keyboard right now? Wait until you disconnect it from the computer before you try to hose it off. :D

Good to hear about the Swamp Rat customer support, though.

if I could host some pics I would let you see. Yeah it slowed to a seep now. I have a paper towel wiping my finger off every 15 seconds or so. I got light headed after a while I bled some much. I have to replace that damn window now too. That was the stupidest thing I have done in a long while. I had a few friends watching me demonstrate my badass new knife so t really set me off when it broke they were laughing at me. Yeah Eric is the best person I have ever dealt with in the knife industry. I cant wait to get some more swamprats. I am sure it was just my luck to get the 1 in a million to fail. The M6 fits nice horizontally in the cordura sheath on my back. My multitool fits in the pocket as well. I am going on a a couple day camping trip this weekend and I will be using the hell out of my new knives. Building fires etc. Normal camping duties.

Hey Guys...

Wicked..

Yaa you shouldn't put super glue in big deep cuts like that..
You get blood poisoning,,and it's not going to be good....

Should have called SWRat BEFORE punching stuff!!!! :D :D :D

All in all, got get sewed up by the galen dude.

I am off work right now on workmans comp for a knee surgery.I am quitting the company anyway this week now that my physical therapy is finished but they cancelled my health insurance as soon as I was hurt. Left me in South Carolina as well and I live in Indiana. Sueing them currently. Had to to even get any pay plus they didnt help me with my wifes life insurance when she died May 28. Anyway I cant goto the hospital it cost me over $1000 last time I had to go for a brown recluse spider bite with no insurance. They didnt even do anything but prescribe antibiotics. Imagine what stitches would cost. I wa s an EMT-B a couple years ago when I worked at GM if worse comes to worse I will stitch the thing up with some thread and pour alcohol on it. It is almost stopped as long as I dont bend my fingers on my right hand.

You should go see a doctor! Keep an eye out for any redness or swelling if you have any go in immediatly. MRSA is nasty stuff and is everywhere. Handling knives will be hard with a stump or worse if you die.
Glad to hear about the kick a** service at Swanp Rat. Top knotch.
Take care of yourself!
Jason

Go to the doctor now you dork! You can worry about paying for it later. (You can always change your name and disguise yourself to escape your creditors -- those glasses with the false nose and bushy eyebrows are good.)

There was something wrong with that knife; it should not have broken like that no matter what you hit. Swamp Rat will replace it.

I would love to see pics of that.

I would contact Eric about the issue. They stand behind their stuff.

He already did, in his first post he said a replacement was getting sent his way...

DO NOT pour alcohol into an open wound (particularly if the alcohol is stronger than 70%). It may denature the tissue and make it more difficult for the wound to heal. Wash with running water, use fresh peroxide if you have it (from an unopened bottle - they go useless quickly after you open them), put antibiotic ointment on it, bandage it well, and see a doctor.

And fer crying out loud, do not put crazy glue in your wounds.

Oh, one more thing, don't you have general hospitals in South Carolina? If you've got no income, they should stitch you up without a bill.

here is a tip, grab some old clothes, run down to the ER, repeat this until seen

no hable englis
no hable englis
no hable englis
no hable englis

they will take care of you and not ask for any ID:mad:

I thought peroxide kills the white blood cells and tissue also though?!

It shouldn't be as damaging as alcohol. Personally, I use neither, but if one is afraid of infection, I would rather use peroxide than alcohol. Problem with peroxide is, once you open it, its shelf life is very short.

I just woke up and it has quit bleeding finally. What is wrong with plain superglue? We used it when I was an EMT on cuts. We had medical grade crap but still the same ingredients. Anyway it sealed the cuts shut finally. I just washed it with antibacterial soap and dumped some isopropyl alcohol on it then put bacitracin on and rebandaged. I have plenty of Keflex(broad spectrum antibiotic) here in case it gets infected.
