Hello all. While on a hike with my pup down to one of the local rivers, I noticed this tree trunk that's been there for a while, I just never had looked at it with a knifemaker's eye before. Check out the figuring all over it. I bet there's over 1000 curly maple blocks there...I wish it were on my property.

Find out who owns the property and offer to remove the fallen tree for them free of charge.

Yep....ask to remove it for them. There are guys that do slab lumber that would pay for that log.

Gunstock makers would go crazy over that trunk. I'd find the owner and offer to make him a custom knife .... or two.

Hello all. Boy, I wish I could make an offer, but not only is it on public land, it's on a sandbar in the middle of the Mashell river and about a 2 mile downhill hike from the parking area....

You don't have to get it up the hill in one piece. Where there is a will (and a permit) there is a way.
