Thought I'd try to do it different. (Izula handle wrap)

Well, after beating my old handle wrapping around a bit I figured it was time for a change, and rather than do the typical in/out wrapping I thought I'd innovate with something that filled out the hand better. The handle is a lot more oval now, yet keeps its low profile. :)

Forgive the poor pics...there's jack for good natural lighting right now since it's been overcast for 90% of the summer.:o

Very nice. It looks like that wrap could hold some contents in the hollow area very nicely. Might be tough to get to in a hurry, but you won't lose it. :D

How many feet of paracord did you use?

Nice work, you have this handle wrapping thing down. I have to say I am still impressed with the CS Bushman cord wrap you detailed in W&SS a while back.

It looks like you gutted the paracord - did you?

Lookin' good. :)

I like the use of so much cordage on the rig all together.

I'm kinda diggin' it. How exactly do you keep it tied down? I don't see any knots holding things in place. I'm not sure if you want to pass along your "trade secrets" but I'd be interesting in learning how you crafted the new wrap.

Nope! Didn't gut it at all. It's just a super tight wrap! I soak the handles with water and blow dry them afterward to shrink them down. Hard like a rock when I'm done, but it won't shift or unravel on me. The un-gutted cord makes for a more oval handle shape that's quite pleasing. :)

I'd like to stick some stuff in the handle but can't think of what to put in there that's maintenance free, since I wouldn't be unwrapping it except in a real emergency.

Not sure of how much cord it took, but not too much more than the regular method I think.

I just melted and flattened the ends to keep them from pulling back through. :)
