Thoughts about the Beshara XSF-1 Dagger - unique blade shape

Ooooo yea, I am picking up one of these. That would make a nifty addition to my collection. I really like the design, never seen anything quite like it.

It looks very interesting and I'd probably like to pick one up some day but the name and named features make me gag.

the XSF-1 (pronounced “ex-ces-sive one”) is the ultimate evolution of the combat dagger. Based on "Besh Wedge Technology(TM)”

I never could stand all the contrived TM'ed names for every little feature on a product.

I saw one on e-bay (A2) for 120 buy it now and almost bit. If it would have been titanium, or mod not a part of blackhawk group I probably would have bought it. It looks interesting for sure!

I didn't even realize that was actually a word. I thought it was just a random set of letters and a number. Didn't try pronouncing it.

The XSF (stupid acronym-word, grr) looks like it'd be cool... although I wouldn't think a titanium blade would hold an edge all that well. Also... not worth $270 to me.

As for the Kochergin, looks like an American-tanto khurki.... not all that odd if you think about it.

This is funny. I just posted a thread right next to this one about this knife without looking. LOL. The Ti one would only really be good for Demo or EOD. It won't sharpen as easily and when you do you would have to use a dedicated sharpener so you don't get steel from your other knives on your Ti. That is about all I know about this knife.

As I heard he's tough guy and martial arts guru… have knife made to fit his particular style. So it makes sense, sure, but it's so far from utility blades!

Have you watched the video on the MOD website? They state it is a good knife for pressure cuts, and they do cut some pretty thick rope with it. That and you can get it in mostly serrated.

Wish the blade was serrated to the tip. the sheath that comes with the knife seems to be better than average. Go to www.realfighting.com there is a review in issue 8 I believe. The review gives the history of the name.

Hey guys,

I own a Besh XSF. I think it's a great concept for a blade, the next evolution from the F-Sykes Dagger.

The one I have is actually a custom XSF Blue stingray so it's made of O1 Tool steel instead of the production A2. The balance is great and feels extremely lively in the hand. The sheath however I could do without, it is very large and bulky. And yes I would feel very safe prying with this knife because of the built up tip. Have any questions just ask.

Any pics with the knife in hand? Also pics of the knife next to a popular knife or common object so that we can get a relative size it.

The MOD XSF-1 I got yesterday is razor sharp at the tip and is really great for penetration. I tested it on cardboard and it is great. The knife is really impressive for it's slim footprint. The overall blade thickness is massive. I wouldn't think twice about prying with it. I have never seen the custom one in person, but the MOD XSF-1 is a great knife. I am not dissappointed with the purchase.
I got the 4.1 serrated edge. The serrations are really cool. Not like the ones you may be used to seeing. You can use a regular sharpener to hone these. It is a flat serration, meaning the viods are not sharpened, just the edge bevel itself.

Can you post some pics?

Ask and ye shall receive. Pics are below, next to a BM TSEK, waved Endura, my watch and Ipod nano. The mini boat paddle next to it is the sheath. Also of it in my hand.

Honestly the first time I saw this blade I thought "WTF... a SQUARE tip?!?" But it is actually slightly angled allowing for better penetration than you might think. The blade is also quite thick, I wouldn't want to get smacked with even the flat side of it.

I'll give props to Brent Beshara, this is a really clever grind he came up with.
