Thoughts Hard Use Folding Knife- Benchmade Adamas

Very good post Steely_Gunz Steely_Gunz ! The only thing I can say is that to me, the integrity of the design and tough, also hard steel, is very important for what I usually do with my knives. I don’t trash them, I have, I guess, good understanding how to push those because I never had issues with blade play or locks failed on my working knives.
‘However I prefer Triad, back locks or Axis locks for those. They are very strong and simple locks with minimal chance to disengage while twisting and pushing the handle. For other purposes I personally prefer enclosed locks as liner or internal frame locks.
I don’t really care much about ergonomic details, like sharp or round edges of the scales. Much more important to me is the overall design, if my hand would not slip forward or if I can draw the blade without the knife slipping out of my hand. Voyager is one of my absolute favorite designs, handle ergonomics along with tanto profile of the blade…
‘For working knife I personally have best experience with S90/30V, M4 and D2. I try to avoid “softer” steels only because I’ll have to sharpen more often, absolutely no other reason to discriminate it, they are plenty good, tough steels in this category that worth the money. After I got the ZDP Endura, I’m very curious to try the K390 and the new Magnacut, I really hope Spyderco release Manix XL with any of those two, it’s one of my very favorite designs.
‘Also, I wish they give the K390 some PVD type of coating, I believe that even it would not prevent completely rust and such, it’ll help little bit for the blade to look good, I’m not huge fan of patina, I know, I must not be a knife guy…🤣

I can attest the photos you've posted seem very well used and well loved :)
Thank you ! I’m glad someone is noticing those. I have tons of “hard use” pictures that I don’t post much because I don’t want to trigger some of the good guys to think that I really don’t care of my knives… 😂

Go ahead and post some here if you like. That’s what this thread is for , if you’re so inclined.

Kindly list the knife model and maker please sir

Well, didn’t do much around the holidays so I don’t have much new pictures.
I usually post those in the “Show what you did with your…” thread but here are few,
hope I didn’t post some of those already:

I had this Griptilian from the Exchange when I signed up here.
‘I finally broke the tip of it.

I sent it to Benchmade last year, got a new S30V blade and spent twice the price of the knife for a new scales.
‘This is how it looks now and I absolutely love to retire this guy and have it enjoy the upcoming years around bottles of booze and cigars ha ha ha… 🤣

Those pictures are a thing of beauty and bring tears of joy to my eyes. Actual work knives.😭😭

Oh my…..

Poceh Koceb, thank you posting amazing pictures of the various and sundry uses of at least two of your well loved knives….

I completely understand the uses on cardboard, windows, concrete/sakrete bags, insulation, opening paint or mastic cans, even trimming the caulking or mastic off of the concrete or eifs???

Why the cutting on the aluminum downspouts and to cut a channel on an aluminum post? Holy smokes, you must save a fortune on tools and tool blades…

Clearly you’re a man that believes in making your tools work for you though. Bravo

Drinks well deserved. Wow….

🤣 My name is Jordan… Actually I do have lots and some very expensive tools.
I keep those in my truck and when I do such work, I just don’t want to waste few minutes here or there, they accumulate and I’m wasting time.
‘Almost everything I do with my knives is hidden, it doesn’t matter how the edges of the gutter will look like, I cut it off with the knife and smooth the edges on the piece Ill use with scissors, then will plug it in the end of the gutter and put the strap. You won’t see any ragged edges.
‘The logic with the post is very simple - it’s in the concrete. Any lateral vibrations from cutting tool will potentially wicked the structure. Hitting it straight down with the Grip does not make the post to vibrate and have much solid base from the post, seating in the concrete, works like a charm.
‘Cheers !

After working in the construction industry for decades, I surmised that time was the driving force for your use of the nearest tools in reach to maintain efficiency. Even still, amazing

Great pics indeed. They are a thing of beauty

I

I was curious about the potential for that. Initially the automatic was not part of my consideration but it is now

In any case the knives I’m considering are

BM Adamas
ZT 0308
CS AD10
CS 4Max

In reality now, I’ll most likely buy two…

The the reason for opening this thread was exactly what is happening here. A balanced conversation with diverse opinion and fantastic input. I’m not the only person that has a need on this order, so anyone with a need benefits here

Well done
I have the full size Adamas (partially serrated) and it's my go to beater, no complaints and I like it a lot.
I also like ZT and will eventually get the 0308 but I want to see what's coming out later this year, I don't think you could go wrong with that choice.
CS AD10 or 4Max are great more budget friendly options that will probably do everything you need them to.

If you buy one I'd recommend the Spartan Harsey folder full size.

Hey W waveone , I do maintenance of bunch of buildings, very odd jobs, nothing standardized as putting 4 offices and a kitchen in empty business suite. I usually go to the job site with Knipex pliers, combo “electrician’s“ screwdriver and a small praybar. Those will cover most common screw heads and small and medium hex sizes.
if those can’t do it, plus my knife, I’ll go back to the vehicle for the correct tools, but it is very tedious to run back and forth, so that’s why I learn with the years to use my knife for so many tasks…
‘It is completely different story when I get the empty suit job. I’ll roll few tool boxes and the pancake and we’re in business :thumbsup:
