Thoughts on a Kershaw BFK?

I would love to see a bladeforum special Spec Bump with a zdp blade coated black and black titanium handles with the silver G-10 twill inlays. I do believe that would make my day.

We already have a ZDP leek. Let's do a bigger knife like a Spec Bump or a Taboo.

I agree with nygiantsfan3342, a knife with an approx.3 1/2" blade with some kind of quality steel, but keeping in mind that some of us are not on the wealthy end of the spectrum.

We need to try to decide what kind of cost we are looking at. For myself something around 150.00 but not over 200.00, would be about right for me.

how about knife with a high quality steel and full carbon fiber handle. Maybe the blade should have a finish on it like boron coated or rainbow

imo 3" blade for legality. might be cheaper to tweak an existing design than start from scratch...

I thinks its an awesome idea and im ALL IN if its as sweet as i imagine it may be

IDEA: Letsc come up with xx number of categories, like 1) Blade material 2) Blade length 3) Type of lock 4) Handle material etc.

And put it up for a vote! That'd ensure that the knife came ot the way 'most' people wanted.

just somethign to throw around

Special Spec Bump or how about a special Shallot?

1. ZDP or maybe the SG-2 when we hear more feedback from the folders.
2. 3 1/2" or 3 5/8" (Don't forget its not just a user, its also meant to be a showpiece/collectible.)

3 Well the type of lock would be dependent upon the model knife that this was being based upon. If it were a Spec Bump stud lock. Shallot, frame lock.

4. Kevlar Micarta (only seen pictures of it, wonder if it would work.), Titanium, or Titanium and Carbon Fiber.

I know I'm pushing it, but to address the legal concerns, how about a matched set. A pair of knives like the Ener-G and Ener-G II or JYD and JYD II (or any models there are two sizes of) using the materials I listed above.

BTW did the name of the Ener-G change? Wasn't it NRG?

Great idea!

A BORON Coated Random Leek!!! I think I might buy one of those!

What about an exotic Groove?

Man that Havoc is beautiful. That's what I'm talkin' bout !!! An exotic Groove that looks something like that, with nice steel and as a bladeforum special.:D

I was thinking a bit more about the criteria for a Kershaw BFK. My thoughts split into two separate tacks, maybe one of these will be appealing.

My first thought is that the knife should be something uniquely Kershaw. It should represent what Kershaw is now, where they are going, and it should showcase the amazing technology that they have available. This led me to think of Tim and the MOAB. Tim is in house, he knows how to take advantage of the new tech, and he designs some pretty cool knives. The MOAB is a knife that would be eye catching, conversation starting, and bring some more attention to Kershaw. I know the MOAB is only a proto, but if it were going into production, the first run could be the BFK, with regular production switching up the materials later. If not the MOAB, I'm sure Tim has other amazing knives up his sleeve.

My other thought was since it is a Blade Forum Knife, it should be a knife that this forum has influenced the production of. Thomas mentioned that there were three of four knives that were produced because of this forum. Maybe a special version of one of these? Thomas any suggestions?

Oh, and the Havoc is pretty cool!

boy its amazing as to what happens when you dont check in hours! all of the ideas! well gee, i guess you all can guess my number one BFK knife, a tricked out Offset (Ti handles, better blade steel, ect.), but that wont happen. so i am inclined to agree on several knives Kershaw has out now. those being, the spec bump, JDY, the shallot, Tyrade (hehehe riggght. waay to much $$$) and the Nrg (or Ener-g). would prefer to have the bump or JDY for this special knife.

for random knife specs, 3"-3.75" blade, Ti handles, VG-10 or ZDP-189 steel, black coated balde, AO, recurve edge, flipper!, stud lock or frame lock.

you know, i think i just about described a tricked out Lahar! that would be a good looking BFK! its a good design, simple yet elegant. great steel already. affordable right off the bat. why not the Lahar? (on a side note, how come no one has said anything on the Lahar in terms of a review?).

taboo would be cool also :D

I'm in for a Blade forums knife if they happen. Spiralarchitect's sugestion sounds very cool; a BF Tyrade or SG2 Blur would be pretty nice, too.

Well, my first thought was a Shallot, but the bump or blur would be nice too. I am looking forward to the Shallot and the cost would not get too high once all the special features/steel/colors/pimp juice are added on. Cost would be a consideration in my case, but I am very interested in seeing where this goes.

I think something like the blur with a frame lock and no assisted opening would be awsome. Maybe some fancy steel and colorful handle.

why cant i find a picture of a shallot?

I think the JYD II with ZDP that might be coming would make a good forum knife. Maybe a special design on the G10 scales. The G10 Spec Bump scales look nice.
