thoughts on a slingshot for hunting?

thanks for the comments and links, guys. i'll probably go pick one up soon to play with it. in the mean time energy bars will have to do in case :)

I've always had a sling-bing in my pack. Old habit. I found I could always shoot better by "feel" , than putting too much brain into aiming , if you know what I mean. I found the smaller 3/8 and such ammo just doesn't have enough mass. I like 1/2" - 5/8" ball bearings the best with a wrist rocket. Travels farther, hits harder and has a nicer trajectory. Even with my cockeyed eyes, I'm still a pretty good shot. Great self defence weapon , BTW.

A Fish hunter cattie, with Gold therabands is the way to go,most powerfull out there ;)

I've been eyeing these for some time now myself...been trying to talk up a trade with Fish for a green one. I've seen the reviews and in progress pics from Justin himself. He makes some simple but very well made, compact, and easily carried yet still quite powerful catapults.

Im fairly good with a slingshot so I pack one in my maxped. Kodiack. Thats my primitive camping/ hiking bag. I have used it on squirrels that wernt afraid of me and allowed my to get within 20 feet of them.

Im the same way. I dont aim at all as far as down the yoke, but I can hit a dinner plate at 15-20 yds all day.

scrap that idea. did some research and it turns out slingshots are illegal here in nj...sigh.

I have one in my pack for fun and food it I get lucky/desperate. They are cheap, lightweight, quiet and ammo is usually available everywhere(on the ground). I wouldn't rely on one for food but it couldn't hurt to pass the time while waiting for a trap to get something.

I've been trying to practice up on one as a result of a deprived childhood. I have one in hopes of snagging pidgins/ring necked doves if needed. Fun backyard plinking at least.
