How does everyone feel about an asymmetrical liner lock? One that it has the single liner on the lock side. I've been thinking about building one of these and o ran across a nick Shabazz video of one now idk. Heres a pic to give you an idea what I'm talking about

First off just from an aesthetic stand point it looks strange but usually I'm all for asymmetrical stuff in general so I could grow to enjoy looking at it.

Mechanically I would say as long as it has that robust back spacer (full back spacer even better) it should work well.

What does Nick not like about them ?
I like Mr. Shabazz and enjoy his Vids immensely but he's not a full on mechanic type though he is good with his hands.

Looks like the lockside of the handle will be quite a bit thicker than the other side, that'd bug the crap out of me, however that probably won't be a big deal to most people. I say go for it, It'll be unique

I think with a thinner liner like. 050 it wouldnt be as bad. But with that thicker one it kinda sticks out pretty bad. Wasn't sure how others felt about it. I like that it saves on weight and thickness. I've already started making one and itll be just as secure as one with 2 liners.

It's a liner lock
Any chance of a picture of the lock? I'm curious.

For doing your own I think the biggest deal will be stacking the layers right so while they look asymmetric they keep a balance. You'll have to play with colour and material a bit to get it right.

Is it just me or when looking at the butt end, the knife is blade is symetrically aligned with the scales and both sides look to be functionally the same thickness?

Well for my liner locks I've been using. 056 thickness so the scale on the lockbar side, I can just remove .056 from the scale and then both sides will be symmetrical and more appealing to the eye.

Heres the video of anyone is interested

This is some speculation on my part. But for me I'd like to see this with titanium scales. Otherwise I'd imagine that you would need a thicker liner then avg to prevent handle flex and scale cracking. Which kinda defeats the purpose.

I don't see any issue with it. Many knives have been made with full synthetic handles without issue - the Recon 1 by Cold Steel, for example, has solid G10 handles with no liners... and it's an absolute tank of a knife.

I mean, realistically, how is it any different from the multitudes of knives that have a linerless solid G10/CF side and a steel framelock side?

Burger knives aka tbknives are some of my favorite knives. I prefer these front flippers over most too. Having the right lock geometry and tolerances is probably really important. Also alot of people don't like ti liner locks. They rather have steel lock bars.

Iirc the Kershaw Skyline has a similar design but they are just regular flippers on pb washers and they don't flip very consistently.
