Thoughts on Best Breathable Waterproof Shell jacket (Goretex , paclite, eVent , etc.)

I have been using the same LL Bean Goretex shell since about 1996. Still sheds water, keeps me warm. We don't need a whole lot of jacket in Florida, but when the temp does dip to freezing or below, that shell, a good base layer plus a fleece pull over, is all I need.
