Thoughts on carrying a traditional folder...

Some beautiful pictures!

I started with the modern flippers and had some that I thought I would never sell. However, it just wasn't me nor my mentality. I tried a traditional and ended up falling in love with traditional knives. There is a warmth and romance carrying a stockman, trapper, or barlow that the modern knives just can not offer. The history alone captivates my attention and I love learning about them. I ended up selling all my modern knives.

Welcome to the traditional side and don't be surprised if you start selling off the modern ones.

This is exactly how I feel about traditionals. There is something about them that fascinates me, even when they are new they have a character that one hand openers don't. I do sometimes miss the ability to cut something real quick and have the knife back in my pocket before anyone knew I cut something, but those times are far surpassed by taking my traditional out and enjoying it for what it is.

Great photos and read. Thanks for sharing. Paul Long did a bang up job (as always) of creating a sheath that compliments your amazing Oeser.

I absolutely agree with you philosophy. Personally, I carry a modern tactical folder for just that, in the infinitely minimal chance that I would need to defend myself. I always have a traditional in my other pocket and it gets more EDC use. I will be getting my CCW permit in a month and then I think I will be more comfortable with having one of my beloved traditionals riding solo :D

Amazing knife, and I'm in the beginning stages of the traditional transition(I like the way that sounds). I have yet to pull the trigger on one yet, but it wont be long.
