I will be receiving a green chinese lum folder in a trade. If ya got one what are your thoughts on it. Do you like it? For some reason I was hypnotized by the leaf shaped blade and couldn't stop until I had one. I am seriously anxious for it's arrival. thanks for your comments. and thanks for the forums. dtsoll:)

dtsoll,

You may want to do a search on the Lum Chinese passaround that happened a while ago. Lotsa good reviews on it.

Aw heck, here ya go: Lum Chinese reviews

Hope that helps,

Matthew

Love the VG-10 blade. The steel is great and the blade shape is perfect for a lot of cutting jobs. The handle was not as impressive to me. I found it a little slippery. Overall, a nice knife, but not one that I would purchase.

I got the chance to try this knife thanks to the generousity of DaveH and the passaround knife that he provided.

I had ordered another knife and was shipped a Lum Chinese Folder by mistake. I fell in love with it so quickly that I accepted it and bought both of them! I just wish that it was legal to carry to work in my federal office.

The Lum is awesome. The leaf shaped blade combined with the thin flat ground edge cuts like a laser. Mine locked up like a rock.

The Lum is not bad, but the handle isn't quite secure enough for me to adopt it.
I prefer the Salsa, very similar blade shape, and the handle locks in pretty damn well.
Small blade that cuts and slice like a big one, and mostly goes unnoticed.
Give the Lum a try, and if you feel the same about the handle, try the Salsa.

The Lum's appeal to me was in its smooth cutting ability and its very sophisticated appearance. I really like the look of both the blade and the hilt or handle or whatever you wish to call it on a folder. The combination is a very aestheic one that he Salsa, my favorite go to work knife, cannot match.

I love the Salsa for its 2 7/16" blade and its low key appearance, all very helpful if you work for the feds where 18USC930 limits what you may carry to 2 1/2" blades and an obvious appearance is not a desireable in this post 9/11 world. That it has a great lock and a very ergonomic grip makes it even better.
