Thoughts on DPX H.E.S.T 2.0???

Awesome I am sure I will like it do any of you have a zt 0550 or 0560? If so how does it compare to the ZT's? Only ask because I have both the 0550 and a 0561;)

I have several ZT 0550/0551/0550BLK and ZT 0561/0560CBCF/0560BLK and the DPx HEST/F 2.0 is more compact with narrower profile and thicker blade. Also, you have the extra goodies (bottle opener, wire cutter, glass breaker, hex, etc.).

I can carry the HEST/F locally with blade length regs of 3".

My favorite out of all of these is actually my 0550BLK with Hinderer CF scale. It's smoother with the DLC coating. I prefer flippers but ion this company my 0550BLK wins. All server their purpose based on situation. As an aside, if you included the ZT 0801 that's my favorite of all of them here.

PS - I'll practice my Wave action with the HEST/F this weekend wearing jeans!

Thank you, I hope it will get some pocket time its going to have to fight with my pimped 0561 and my pm2 in S35VN ;)

I have had mine for about a year and a half or so. The only negative and not really a big deal is the slightly sticky lock.I like everything about this knife.

I practiced wave opening the HEST/F and I made it work fairly reliably. As you withdraw it turn butt horizontal and catch the bottle opener deliberately/slowly. I couldn't go as fast the Emerson Wave but perhaps need more practice.

Sounds like it works kinda like the Spyderco mod... has anyone dealt with there customer service before? If so are the helpfull?

I like mine, a little pencil on the lock and its good now, I just want to put bronze washers in it, same for my Dendra.

Yes. They're in San Diego. I think turnaround was less than a week. The sticky on the Ti frame lock of my T3 was bad. On the Milspec I just applied sharpie, let dry, open/close cycles until sharpie wore off and repeat. It took a couple of hundred cycles. It's a real beefy Ti lock. When you go fixed blade via RotoBlock there's no shifting.

The HEST 2.0 is a great blade...I've used it in camp and continue to be impressed. Has a great and very useful sweep to the blade. The D2 holds an edge and I've found it to be very rust-resistant for D2. Strops well. The Ti/G10 makes for a fairly lightweight/tank of a knife. Love mine..I never gave it enough credit until I actually really used it.

Thanks for the update. Did the combination of the blade length & thickness make it awkward? I saw a hest 3.0 on one of the knife sites, it had a significantly bigger blade but unfortunately was only available in serrated. Was also another $100 or so more.

Wasn't that it was awkward. Just a little short for me. It had a good feel in hand seemed ok just wouldn't get pocket time...

I rounded off the tip of mine. Other than that loved it. Great edge ( i got mine used with a non factory edge though) super strong. It Was my fault on the tip, dropped it on concrete from about 3 feet up practicing the wave feature and dropped it. Ended up trading it and a BM grip for my strider SNG last weekend.

There's supposed to be a DPx HEFT/F folder coming with a 3.5" blade of either D2 or Niolox.

I'm unaware of a HEST/F 3.0. Perhaps you can link me?

The DPx HEST/F 2.0 T3 (Triple Black) was named one of the Top Factory Knives from 2001 to 2012 by Blade Magazine in their November 2013 issue. It has a partially serrated edge and incorrectly stated as having a 3.6"-3.9" blade. The blade is made of Niolox steel with no markings on it and not D2 like the other HEST/F 2.0 folders except for the Milspec one which uses Sleipner steel.
