Got a Flatbyrd, it's pretty much my beater knife. Feels ok in the hand, not exactly my preferred grip, but still works well. As per the name, it's very flat and easy to carry. Easy to sharpen, and I've put it through some serious crap without it failing on me. A tiny bit of vertical play, but for the price, I suppose that was expected. Only time it rusted was when I washed it and went off to do some other stuff and... ehh... forgot about it for a day. The rust came off quite quickly though.
As per Phil's review, it's a tad stiff, but I took mine down to polish it all up, and it's much smoother now, although not as good as any of my Spydies.
As mentioned above, the Flatbyrd is a bit stiff when new, but smooths out through use. I have found that mine locks up very solidly and is a fine slicer.
Like all the Byrds, the Flatbyrd gives big performance at a small price.
