Thoughts on Gerber Applegate Combat Anniversary Edition

I really do like the design, and I think I will probably get one. I know that SPOOKYSHUGAN had a bad experience with his, but that could be the one that slipped past. I will have the dealer to check it out, addressing the problems SPOOKY had, and I will definately tell the dealer before buying that if the knife comes the way SPOOKY'S did I will be returning it.

Hang on as it may be the end of this month, or September.

Damn...and it had such great potential too.I'd really like to see a few more reviews in hopes that yours was just a fluke( probably not though)

I hate to resurrect a dead thread, but thought I'd put in my $0.02 on the subject, after being reminded of it in a thread not too far from here, and to see if anyone else ended up with one of these.

I picked one up on clearance at Knifecenter a couple years ago, and got it for $145 shipped, which seemed like a steal to me. Mine came in just a little loose in the construction, but a few seconds with the right hex bits (not Torx), and it was tight as can be, with easy flipping, good lock-up, and perfect alignment. The blade on mine was shaving sharp, with nice even grinds.

It's now my canoeing/camping knife, and sees occasional play time, while I'm sitting around the house on a weekend.

Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my purchase, and was hoping to hear that not all of these were bad as many have had experiences showing. Being a USA-Made version, I thought it was very well put together, with a lot of attention to fit and finish, plus the materials take it to another level, vs. the current and even past versions, with the possible exception being the first edition. (which didn't come with a clip, IIRC.) or whichever had the ATS-34/154CM steel.

Am I the only one who has one, and likes it? Did this end up being a sleeper? Without stating prices, has anyone made a significant profit off of these?

Anyway, I'm curious to see what other think. There's gotta be at least a few of you out there that got one.

The main pivot on some versions is apparently a two-part push-fit pin, not a true screw...

The pivot still has the screwdriver hole to suggest that it is a screw(!)... So screwing it down merely means the whole thing spins around... I don't know if this applies to a micarta version, but it is true of the large plastic handle version (someone showed this disassembled, and no, he could not re-assemble it...). I find this totally amazing, but maybe they are not all like this. The push-fit pin was not on a knock-off: It was a real one...
