Thoughts on handle material

No one sugests Linen Micarta?

Not quite a grippy as canvas, but not so absorbing either.

I was also going to throw out the Linen or Paper option since they are more dense and wouldn't take as much to seal.

The Res-C is non-hygroscopic, so it might fair well.

What if you warmed up the canvas Micarta to a safe level (Skunk can tell you how high NOT to go;) ) and quenched them in a hot sealing material, oil, wax, ??? I wonder if it would draw into the exposed fibers and help?

I like the micarta due to its weight and toughness, but don't have it on any of my hunting knives. But I have a couple of friends that do.

To seal their micarta handles, they went to one of local woodworking stores and bought water thin super glue. They removed the scales from their knives, and applied a liberal amount over clean, dried handles.

It wicked right into the handles, and the problem with blood stains and smell was gone. A small piece of 220 grit sanded off any excess. It can easily be touched up, as well.

They saw this method on a hunting forum and since trying it they have been very pleased with the results.

If I'm not mistaken (it has happened before) Jerry has said something to the effect that Res-C isn't something he wants to use on his knives any longer. Is there a reason for this?

I have received a Basic 6 and a Basic 9, I really like the tacky feel of the grip. It seems like it would be good because it would absorb shock and heep a good grip even when wet. Do those of you who have one of these handles find this to be the case? Is there a reason it's not going to be used on Busses?

I've pounded the Res-C handle of my Dogfather with a small sledge hammer for quite some time. Used a lighter to smooth out the small scars and good as new. for Res-C. And it's grippy, not sure with seal oil?

Res-C for the Busse Basics was part of trying to deliver a Busse quality knife at a lower price point, back then. Now that they have other lines to supply lower priced, quality knives, my guess is that we will not see Res-C on the premium Busse line again. So it goes.
