Thoughts on how make sprint runs interesting again?

If we're talking different colored screws and standoffs, then sure. I like the variety of sprints even on discontinued knives. Have had a preorder in on a Meerkat since it went up and am thrilled to be able to get one at a reasonable price. I also like when they release a favorite in a steel that I prefer. I don't really collect multiples of the same knife and will quickly move on from knives that I don't want, so the resale value proposition doesn't really bother me.

Good point Marcie. Look at Spydie and ZT. Both have dumped a ton of sprints in the last year alone.

And that is the irony. Many people are buying them for their "rarity." So many that they are dumping a ton of sprints. No more rarity.

I think that actually IS what irony means, if I recall. "a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects"

Yup!!!
Seems like the word LIMITED is being used rather loosely!

Well, if you can sell "limited" editions as fast as you can make them, then you will make as many of them as you can! That's smart business! Just make 'em until people stop buying them. :D

It sounds like BilboBaggins has the right idea...if you like the sprints or have a short knife attention span and you are not expecting anything back...then great! Sprint away!

But I do think the people expecting/hoping a return may be exactly the ones who are responsible for the sprints being boring.

OP - What makes you think a ZT0560BW sprint run will sell very well? with gold inlay and sell at $180 or what?

First of all... they better not have gold inlays. Second, when a knife gets discontinued you can tell how much the knife is liked by how fast the knife gets sold out everywhere. The ZT 0560BW sold out extremely fast, and a lot are not being put up for sale. Meaning people are enjoying them and keeping them. Also, just because something is newer doesn't make it better. I've seen how many people miss ZT's from the past and don't like or buy the current offerings from ZT. Maybe just put it in with S35VN but pretty much the same knife they use to offer. Many people are loyal to a certain knife or knife design.

An old design with new or much better materials, sure.
An old design with color change or blingy updates, no thanks.
