thoughts on Knob Creek Ganza and two days worth of goodies

Been here for about a year or so.

Last owner contacted me, and we made a dealio.... ;)

:D:thumbup: See? I told ya that you'd get one... But I guess I can't claim to be psychic, can I?? LOL ;)

I was there Friday morning.
I thought everything went pretty smooth.
But, if you're unsure what you want to buy, you probably won't get it !!! :)
Most of the best buys and really cool knives were gone within 30 seconds.
Except for the expensive customs.
Seems like most Hogs are not into buying customs all that much.
I liked a certain custom that was pretty expensive and didn't really want to pay the price but figured, I can sell it down the road if I have too.
Went back and forth several times in my mind whether to get it or not.
Then Ronybear (Porkybear) inspired me to get it.
Thanks Ronybear, I think. ;)
It was great meeting you and all the Hogs at the show.
I'm terrible with names, though, so don't remember everyone I met. :o :)

For God's sake man... WHICH CUSTOM??!??!???

For God's sake man... WHICH CUSTOM??!??!???

Guess I did forget to mention which one. :)
Got the FFBM Variant with the brass bolsters/liners and mammoth tooth scales.
Not really a fan of brass all that much but the mammoth tooth scales look awesome !
It's a safequeen all the way, so the brass bolsters are no biggie for me. :)
Eric posted a few pics of it in his Knob Creek first day thread but they look all washed out.
Not knocking Eric's pics though, it was the cloth background of the tables and the lighting.
The knife looks far better in person; will try to post some better pics when I have time.
Don't have a scale but the knife feels like it weighs a ton.
Thought about getting the Silent Knight Variant when it was put back on the table but the mammoth tooth scales won me over.
In my mind, the knife I got has far more craftsmanship.
No offense to the guy who got the Silent Knight. :D
I would love to order a Mother of all Silent Knights with custom featuires.
I have one in mind with the features I want but not sharing my ideas for it. :)

When I think of the old days ...;)

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.

And you try and tell the hogs of today that ..... they won't believe you ;)

Sad, isn't it?

We were men in those days... :o

Pure luxury. We had a 'ole in middle of the road....

Sag,
Great to meet you and I'm glad that you bought that FBM Variant. I look forward to the pics you post, you are right, mine don't do it justice.

Congrats again and I await your pics ;)

They should have named that variant FFBM Royale.

It has all the bells and whistles.

I don't think Jerry could have put another thing on that knife.

1 of 1....a piece of Busse history....probably never matched again.

Congratulations.

Yes, for all you guys who I got to meet at the Ganza this weekend, it was really good to put a face with the Forums names. Most incredible experience! I wish sometimes that I had not cut up all my credit cards four years ago, but then I could have spent 10,000 easy for those sweet INFI blades, there are just a few blade designs that I have fallen in love with, ASH1s, HOFSHs, FBMs, HR, and yes, the illusive SFNO, ( it feels good but I still dont' see why it's so great, your getting almost the same blade in the HR) Anyways, can't wait till the next Creek in October, I'll be saving up, and be more " Alpha Male Testosterone filled next time"
I'm a newby to the HOG thing, but as far as Busse is concerned, I was buying his knives before there ever was such a thing as a HOG, Jerry just happened to be the only person who made a good survival knife, along with a few other pretty knife makers like Randall, Al Mar, SOG and Cold Steel, which is mostly what I had before Jerry came along. It's too bad I missed the all of his old knives between the SHII and ASH1, I remember seeing the SFNO, and thinking... That's too much for a busse, and it's not even 1/4 " thick.... Kinda like remembering the MP5s at $900 back in the 80s, now they're $18,000, If only one had the insight.. NEVER would have guessed the straight handled busses to be over 1,000(ps All buying, selling, trading, or offers for such gotta happen in the Exchange...) But anyways, I'm rambling... NO REGRETS? > Always regrets, just have to learn from them...

Most of these options are far too civil for Hogs. I have noticed a trend among the more green show attendees to want more structure to the free for all, I say nay. Some of you guys would have fainted at some of the grabs made a few Blade shows ago. I think this forum may have doomed our old guard Hog ways, too many new piglets choking up the trough. :D Jerry has little choice but to acquiesce to some of the pleas made to him. I do have to say that what Jerry did at the last Blade made a good deal of sense in the aftermath of several blades walking away with the folks thinking they were free. Proxy buyers are cool in my book, if I am there you won't have a chance to snag what I am after anyways. :)

Only the new little guys.

being a big Hog . I am in for the mosh pit experience...

at least til Heavy and some of the MONSTER Size HOGS arrive:D:thumbup:

Being a new guy . I still say screw us....

The new guys just have to learn and step up to the old Hog ways.

No different than when my kids were born. They aren't going to pop out and tell Daddy whats up.....

not without a little ass beating:D:thumbup::cool:

here are some pieces I picked up from the Creek Ganza.. Saturday was Wild! all gone in 15 seconds... COMMENT ON THIS> When a bunch of people are wanting the same knifes. such as SNFOs, something needs to be done about hogging the knives. some thoughts:
Option 1. If your buying from a particular table of very desirable knives. give out a lottery # when you come through the door regarding Your placement in line to be read out in Lottery format, and everyone can come buy thier 1st choice then after ALL have picked their first, then move on to 2nd ,3rd and so forth. from the HIGH demand table
Option 2. SPREAD all desirable knives (such as SNFO combat grade)out over a variety of tables so one person can NOT grab 4-5 knives of one type ( this also apply to Proxy buyers who are getting knives for "4-5 people")
Option 3. Do the Jerry thing: from what I hear, at the last Atlanta Blade show, he would pull out one at a time, and the one who was the most movitaved got to buy it at Jerry's descrepancy.
AND FINALLY:
OPTION 4: Let all come armed with thier favorite Busse, and the last one left standing to get that knife to the girls Alive gets to buy it.
Anyways just thoughts. here are some goodies that I picked up after both days of getting their at the beginning and getting in position: "I'm afraid that Resin man will have pics of me that he can blackmail me with "

The only thing that bothered me about the whole thing, was on Saturday morning when people (buyers) started taking knives off the tables BEFORE opening time. But, that's just my $0.02.
