Is it really useful to have the combo edge on the Manix or should I go for the PE? It seems to me that most poeple avoid combo edges, they opt either for the fully serrated blades or PE.

How tough are the serration tooth?

Thanks in advance.;)

Spyderco does the best serrations IMO. I used to like CE, but for resale value i'd go PE. It just depends what you need the knife for.

I am not talking about the fully CE, I am talking especifically about the Spyderco Combo Edge. And don't really "need" this knife, I have plenty of serviceable knives for daily tasks, camping and kitchen shores, but I just want another Manix with a different type of blade.

Cheers.

I got the Manix CE first and I have to say it's pretty usable. I really hated the CE at first but after I got used to it (and got the hang of sharpening it) I like it now. Despite that I have two PE Manixes now, the CE one gets all the action. If you just want to carry one general-purpose blade, CE is not bad, especially with the blade length of the Manix. The serrations definitely do come in handy now and then.

*what he said* (above)

I got the mini manix in CE and have 0 regrets.. its quite perfect. I have found often that I will start a (hard) cut using the bite of the serrations and the PE then does the rest...

I feel there is nothing wrong with a partial serration. I actually put mine to hard use. At my job it requires alot of running hoses and tubes. That partial serration tears them up quickly. It all depends on: if you are going to run into an application that requires serrations: if you have the patience to maintain the sharpness of them.

If you think you might resell the knife, understand that it's going to get less attention than if it were PE. Other than that, buy it.
