Thoughts on new Juice design?

I carry a S2 and love it. I'm not big on the new scale design, I like both sides orange rather than the 2-tone, and I believe the blade has been shortened to accommodate TSA. I think the current blade length is 2.6", not sure what the new blade length is. Are there any other differences I'm leaving out? What's your thoughts on the new design?

The guy in the shot show video mentioned something about the nick on the flat blade screwdrivers changing to make them easier to get to. I just got a current S2 and though my screwdrivers are easy to get out I have read numerous complaints of tights ones. The updated handles and blade change don't bother me one way or the other.

I'd love to see some modded Juices. Actually have never thought of modding one.

I can get my screwdrivers out just fine too. Oh well, I guess we have about 6 months or so before the new one is out. Also, I don't think I've seen many positive reviews or comments on the new Juice around the internet. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Im not impressed at all with the new Juice line. I don't like the two tone scheme they went with and the shortened blade bugs me since there will most likely be no change in the TSA's rules regarding carry knives on airplanes. The nail nick change is probably the only thing I think is a good decision.

They should have addressed the poor excuse for a can opener in my opinion.

I watched the Going Gear Shot Show video again and the new blade length will be 2.25" down from 2.6". I agree that the blade shortening was dumb.

The guy in the video said that the Juice was in need of a refresh, and I'm just like NO..don't fix what ain't broke! The design changes to modify the nicks on the screwdrivers could have been accomplished without screwing up the looks of the tool and the blade. But hey, at least we can get our Juice engraved now

I'm not crazy about the looks either, but you can always pop off the scales.

I liked it at first but now I'm not too fond of it. I have a normal CS4 and I love it. I definitely don't plan on upgrading tothe new models. I hope that the new ones are more TSA friendly but I guess we'll just see what happens. Considering the saw blade I'm still not sure if it would be legal anyway, regardless of the length of the knife blade. I'm not sure if I would need the extra length on the blade anyway but it just looks kind of funny with it being that short.

I think the new Leatherman Juice designs are neat. Especially the handle design on the Juice S2

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the older version. Never owned one, the ps4 has done me well until I overused them. I don't really like the two tone look but it is neat that they are making it tsa legal. That is if the tsa follows the new blade regulation. I think that they'll still take it and go home with a new leatherman.

Didnt the TSA go back on the whole idea of small blades in carry ons?

That's what I thought, but this is what happens when designing a product with a lawless government agency in mind rather than what the consumer prefers.

Yes they did. Even if they did not the new Juice blade would still be to large to carry on a plane. The law they where trying to pass to allow knives on planes again would basically only allow you to carry a 58mm Victorinox Classic. The allowed length was a bit larger than the blade on the classic but it was about the same. The 91mm Victorinox blade would have been to large to carry on a plane even if they did change the rules.

I just flew with a Squirt in my carry on a week ago. No problems from TSA whatsoever.

Did they shorten the blade on all of the Juice models?

Just found out that the previous line of the juice model is now retired. I assume this means they are no longer producing the older model so get them while you can. If you want one that is.

I'm with you, Capt. I didn't know the old colors and non-textured scales were gone.

I would like to see the Juice line completely redesigned. Timmy can start the makeover with tools that don't interfere with each other and bind when you try to fold the tool back together. And the sharp flat drivers that cut your fingers. And lose the can opener thing. And add some precision to the scissors like you see with Victorinox. And maybe incorporate the name "Powernoodle", as in PowerJuice Or JuiceNoodle. That's a start.

Guess if I lose mine I'll just have to find a new pocket multitool.

I mean i'm sure you will be able to find them on EBAY still, but who knows what will happen with the prices. There aren't many multitools in a similar size, but I always love a good reason to buy a new multitool.
