Recommendation? Thoughts on open scout-carry?

The phrase "hiding something behind his back" came to me while reading the thread.
So I asked the question.

Horizontal cross draw is the only way to go. Works great no matter how active ya are or not. Never in the way and easily accessabile with either hand.

Make em in several different styles. I've carried this way almost exclusively for years. Whether in the shop or on the ranch, horseback or on foot. Very practical.

I'm with Dave here. Small knives like your Esee are common in the horse world, especially in the West, and I see cross draw frequently. I don't always carry this way, though, because when mounted on the trail I carry my SP101 in a flap holster in left side cross draw.

FWIW, that holster is by Dave and his sheaths are going to make any knife you carry 100% better!

Thanks for the advice, guys. Being a lefty, I'm trying it out by strapping it to the right of my belt buckle for a front cross raw, and so far it seems to be REALLY comfortable

I agree. I actually have an OD sheath for the blade and will probably do so at some point. The tape on the handle is for grip, but the scales underneath are the standard green micarta. I also have a set of TKC G10s in Earth Camo (you can tell I spoil this knife more than all the others). I just ordered an Armatus Carry Esee 3 sheath, so once that gets here, I'll more than likely ditch the black sheath for good, strap the OD green plastic sheath on my bag, and keep the Armatus for body-carry.

Thanks for the replies :D

How are you liking the sheath?

I have an esee 5 with a leather scout sheath that I carry on my lower back for when I'm hiking/camping/woods. But I'm a tall and broad guy (6'7") and when I carry it in its kydex sheath on my sides it would catch on things often. I live in northern California so while I do always have a knife on me, I wouldnt go into town with a fixed blade scout carry. It just draws too much attention due to the uncommon style. I see people with fixed blades often enough but if I saw someone doing scout carry in town I would be curious, its not practical for sitting in chairs/cars etc so eyebrows would be raised.
